A/N In all honesty, I had no intention of writing this fic. You would not be reading these words if not for the wonderful author This Is How I Disappear...blame her :P
So yeah. Another M-rated fic for me...joy. Let me know your thoughts, as usual. Make me smile :)

"This is Officer Kuznetsov speaking. Get Hiwatari on the line."
"Um, I'm sorry Officer, but he's not in the office at the moment..."
A flurry of curses issued from the phone before the connection was ended. Officer Kuznetsov slammed his phone down into the battered black receiver. He waited a few moments, mulling over some thought or another, before lifting up the phone again and punching in a number. He lifted it to his ear and waited.
It rang once.
Twice.
Three times.
In the middle of the fourth ring, someone picked up. "This better be damn important, Boris."
"Busy?" growled the platinum-haired man.
"Well, seeing as your phone call just alerted the fifty or so security guards to my presence - "
"Shit, Kai, what the hell are you doing?"
"Hey, you give me the assignment. Tail the politician, you say. So what do I do? I tail the freaking politician. It's my job. I'm a detective. That's what I'm doing."
"But fifty security guards?"
An annoyed sigh issued from the opposite end of the line. "What, you think that this guy is so stupid that he sleeps all alone in his nice big mansion? He guards himself like he's the Hope Diamond or something. Of course, I was perfectly fine, had a simply wonderful hiding place...and then you get the idea to call me."
"And your ringer was on because?"
"Because this is the phone that you gave me - it's ringer won't turn off for some god-damn security reason. Very helpful, thank you." Even though the phone lines, his friend's sarcasm was burning.
"It's because I'm supposed to be able to reach you on this line at all times. If I don't," he not-so-patiently explained, "I'll think that you're dead."
"Oh, that's a nice thought."
"Isn't it though?"
"So...why the urgency?"
"I have someone more important for you to tail."
"More important than the Russian U.N. rep." It wasn't a question, the skepticism clear in his voice.
"Ever heard of Heisetsu International Corp.?"
"What, that company that holds most of the world's tourist buisness?"
"That's the one."
"The head of the company has been supposedly spotted in some rather strange situations. Usually, I wouldn't pay attention to rumours like this, but they're becoming so numerous that they're hard to ignore. Plus...mentions of vampires have begun to crop up."
"Strange situations? Vampires?"
"Not only that, but tabloids have gotten his picture with dark circles under his eyes and a rather unkempt appearance compared with his usual spotless attire."
"You think he's one? A vampire hunter?"
"I'm not sure," Boris admitted, frowning. "There's a strong possibility though, and that's why I want you on the case. After all, if we want to draw him out enough to catch him in the act and tag him..."
"We need bait," finished Kai.
"Exactly. Bait."
"Me."
"And Bingo was his name-o."
A/N This is the prologue, so, once again, shorter than normal. Tell me what you think.
(P.S. The second chapter of Be My Escape should be up soon...look out for it!)
