Leaving the Candle of Friendship Unlit

It took a few worlds before she gave up on rekindling her friendship and stuck to being the aloof magical girl. Because it never accomplished anything, except more baggage to carry with her to the next timeline, more memories to mourn the loss off – and it was an endless cycle, and she'd seen enough endless cycles by then to know they all ended in despair.

And she couldn't afford despair. Not then. Not in any timeline she rewound to create until her objective had been reached. She could stop chasing shadows of things that could wind up for naught but she could not and would not abandon her true objective.

She'd have all the time in the world to rekindle her friendship with Madoka once she was saved. And then those memories wouldn't pave the path to despair because her goal would be met, her wish fulfilled. Walpurgis Night and Kyubey would be out of the picture and they'd have the chance for a happy life again.

After all, there was no use chasing the illusion of paradise and losing time to fix the real thing.
