Home is where the heart is. Chapter 1

Takuya peered through the window of the Kanbara home, hot tears falling down his cold face. "I can't believe this." He thought, wiping the tears from his eyes as he sobbed. Only one thought crossed his mind, that one painful, little thought: His family was celebrating christmas without him. He sighed, then turned away. 'It just had to happen. I just had to turn into this as soon as I got home, as soon as I stepped off the elevator.' He thought, pulling the red hood of the coat he wore over his face. He walked away, hopping over the gate.

Takuya walked down the snow covered street, his emerald green eyes wandering over to the other houses on the block. He couldn't help but envy the families in those houses, for they didn't know what it was like to be something other than human, to be casted out by society, to be alone in the cold, and to have no where warm to escape to. Takuya felt the sorrowful tears from earlier well up in his eyes again; How they stung like a wound in the chilly air. He ran his hand over his frostbitten lips, his tounge sliding over the fangs that had grown in place of his human canines. Takuya shivered from the cold, unforgiving wind, for the coat he wore was very thin. 'Why did this happen?' He kept trudging foreward; He could've sworn his feet were numb from the cold snow that surrounded him. There was no where and no one for him to go to; He doubted anyone in this neighborhood would feel bad enough for him to let him into their home. 'They would just scream in fear and slam the door in my face.' He thought bitterly, rubbing his hands together to keep them warm. 'Or call animal control.'

Takuya stumbled before plopping down on a bench at the bus stop on the corner. He pulled his knees to his chest, tears falling down his face again. 'I'm..... alone. And on Christmas Eve.' A sob escaped his throat. 'No presents, no family, no one to say Merry Christmas, nothing.' Takuya finally broke down, covering his tear stained face with his callused hands. He felt the stares that people were giving him as they walked by in a hurry, trying to get home out of the cold. He felt sick, his stomach twisted into knots, as hot bile raced up his throat. Takuya finally caved in and threw up in the trash can next to the bench. He wiped what was left from his mouth, then pulled the hood over his head. Takuya looked up at the night sky, the stars blurred from the lights of the city.'If there is such a thing as fate, would you be kind enough to give me somewhere warm to spend christmas.' He curled up on the bench and tried to let the tiredness of his body take over.

"Takuya, is that you?" A mysterious voice asked, sitting down on the bench next to him. Takuya gazed up at the blonde man, a look of puzzlement and bewilderment easily seen on his face. "Yes, but who are you?" He muttered, getting a closer look at the man that sat next to him, causing him to jump back in shock . Long blonde hair, pulled back in a waist length braid, crystal blue eyes that shone like sapphires. 'No, it can't be. Is it?' Takuya got closer, the two of them locking eyes."Agunimon?" The blonde man smiled, revealing a set of fangs on his bottom set of teeth. " Who were you expecting? The tooth fairy?"
