A/N: Written for the PMMM Flash Bingo, #005 – injure.
Prolonging the Foregone Conclusion
Her wounds healed quickly, but that just meant it hurt all the more in the long run. Because she wound up taking more hits before she fell. Because she wound up holding out longer before she fell. Because she wavered to her feet when, if she hadn't been healing that quickly, while she fought, she would have fallen and stayed there, fallen.
And it wasn't an advantage at all if she couldn't make use of the extra time being granted to her.
And she couldn't. She healed fast and so the strikes just came in faster until she couldn't stand up again because the injuries outflew her healing capacity by a moment or two. And that's enough for pride. And that's what the battle was about, in the end. Pride. Otherwise Kyoko would've just cut her head off and be done with it. Otherwise it wouldn't have hurt so damn much.
