Being a God, it was hard to accept that he couldn't do everything. He couldn't bring his parents back from the dead, no, he couldn't make everything okay. The third world version of him would have to live his life for him... with the third world versions of his friends; Kosaka, Hinata, Mao, Akise... even Yuno, though she didn't seem to hang around with third world version him all that often.

But Akise was... different, somehow. Yuki was watching them, had been watching them for what seemed like centuries, and Akise always seemed to know when he was watching. Akise was a dork, sure, but when Yuki was focusing on him, he always seemed to hold himself a little taller, speak with a little more riddle to his sentences, and would glance up a few times, like he knew exactly where Yuki was watching him from.

It was strange, though not entirely unpleasant. There was always that 'what-if' with Akise - what if Yuno hadn't been in the picture, what if it had just been him and Akise? Akise had flustered him, though not in a bad way, it was more of a 'why is this person paying so much attention to me, I have no idea how to react in this sort of situation' type of thing. Yuki hadn't minded it. In a way, he had really liked the attention. It was better than the freaky, intense attention that Yuno gave him, and it was definitely better than the non-existent attention given to him by near everyone else.

"Would you stop looking at your boyfriend and talk to me?"

Murumuru. Yuki looked over at her. She had abandoned the falling-apart manga, and was looking at him with her regular slightly pleading, slightly annoyed expression. "I'm sorry," Yuki said, his voice cracking a little. He wasn't used to speaking. He generally didn't, instead choosing to let Murumuru blabber on about nothing while he watched his friends.

"Why don't you go get him or something? The terrorist is in that world, who says that you can't be, too!" she said, and Yuki shook his head. "Just keep your hair long, and people will think you're a girl! Problem solved."

Yuki sighed, resting his head on his hand and staring back down. Akise and Kosaka, Kosaka talking animatedly on their walk home, waving his hands everywhere. Akise walked casually, hands in his pockets, slouched just the slightest bit. He was smiling at whatever Kosaka was saying, nodding his head every once in a while.

After about three seconds he looked up, seemed to make eye contact with Yuki, and looked back to Kosaka, who hadn't noticed a thing.

Yuki almost laughed. It was enough to put a smile on his face, at least. Murumuru slapped a hand down on his shoulder, grinning broadly.

"Well, if he can make you smile, he has to be good for you," she says. "Especially if it's just by watching him."

Yuki nodded, and Akise made that sort of eye contact with him again, his lips curled up into a smile, eyes glinting.

It was better, Yuki thought, to have a crush he would never be able to talk to. At least then he wouldn't end up hurting someone. And it made him happy enough, so that was what he would do. Stay here and watch them until they aged, and eventually died - and then maybe he could go find them! Being a God gave him incredible possibilities.
