Chapter 1
Once upon a time, in a land very similar to our own, lived this charming and handsome man, considered by many a prince by his own means, a young living legend of Rock. He was for most women, from eight to eighty, a living and breathing version of Prince Charming. So, you see, it's really not surprising or even remotely original when it became common knowledge that Charming took advantage of everything that he was being offered. Many women, who were just faceless and senseless humans to him, rushed through his life. He had recollection of none. Years went by, and as they progressed, and he ascended in his path, his soul disintegrated little by little with the pressure.
The drugs came to his life as a crutch, when life itself was no longer inspiring. In the beginning, like most addicts, he deluded himself to think he was in control. Some of his best songs were written in that period. The pinnacle of his success came with several Grammy awards and, at least professionally, he was at the top of his and everyone else's game. Then the acting contracts came: at first just some small roles on TV series whose producers were desperate for better ratings, but later he landed the opportunity of a lifetime that granted him an Oscar nomination. Our Prince didn't win, but it was enough to start being taken seriously by the public and the critics as more than just another singer turned actor. His first CD came out when he wasn't even twenty and by the age of 26 he'd nearly accomplished all...
But this wouldn't be some sort of modern fairy tale if the prince never faced serious obstacles, if we never got to see him grow as a person and become a loveable hero. He fell out of grace eventually with his life spiraling into self-destruction as any good Rock star's should. It was a little twisted, as human condition goes, but some even loved him more for that. However, as time passed by, he became unproductive and went from an intriguing caged animal to an inhuman shapeless mass in a matter of months.
He'd been on and off innumerous rehabilitation clinics for nearly three years when by some very fortunate chance something new occurred to him and a flimsy flicker of self preservation emerged. Some speculated it was his mother's unconditional love, others his family's everlasting support and faith. I can tell you with certainty that it was none of that. It is suffice to say that within an extremely arid land was implanted a very resistant, yet ubiquitous seed.
Was it hope? You could ask pertinently. Well, maybe. You'll see... This is the tale of our very own, private and indulging prince charming. I'm bringing you the untold story inside a very familiar one, the story of Edward Cullen and his beloved Swan.
AN: this story doesn't have a beta reader so any mistakes and typos you may find are my own. Also, sorry if something feels odd to you, but English is my second language and sometimes I still struggle translating from the Portuguese inside my head to readable English. The Heiress of Lord Henry More remains for now my priority but this will be a short story, probably not over 10 chapters. As always, thank you for reading and if you have the time leave a review. Constructive criticism is always welcomed.
Take care,
Nofrure.
