John Watson had never been a perfect person and after the war he realised he never would be. Looking at him from a distance you wouldn't even know, but John Watson was broken. His head would never think the same; his heart would never feel the same. The war corrupted him.

When John Watson met Sherlock Holmes he thought that man was flawless. His dark curls hung flawlessly on his head, his eyes captured the light perfectly, giving them a flawless look, his excellent bone structure holding no flaws what so ever, the way he held his body and his calm, confident demeanour also seemed totally and utter flawless. But the more John Watson got to know Sherlock Holmes the more clearly he saw him. Sherlock Holmes was broken on the inside, just like John Watson.

Maybe that was the reason John Watson and Sherlock Holmes suited each other so well.
