A/N: Hello! I'm here again! As I write fan-fiction, I tend to come out with vague little stories, usually one shots from varying fandoms, which I try to collect together. Here you will find an assortment of Mary Poppins related fan-fiction and the like. The character portrayals and other details will be a cross between the movie, the books, and the musical, all of which are practically perfect in their own special way. Most of the fics are likely to be Mary/Bert and character studies, but I'll see what I can do. Enjoy!
As always Mary Poppins and related characters and events belong to the Walt Disney Corporation as well as the imagination of P.L. Travers.

I was prompted to write this first one because a lovely Darling Pretty (who writes Mary/Bert better than I ever will. Go read all of her stories, will you?) wanted to read some fluff that she didn't write. I'm doing my best, Lauren!

Wind

The wind is a funny thing. It often has a mind of its own, and will carry the woman who rides it wherever it wishes.

Some days it is forceful, hurling Mary Poppins onto the doorstep of a family that desperately needs to be fixed. She holds onto her hat with a free gloved hand as the cold gusts of air slams into her back and practically pushes her through the front door of her employer's home.

Somedays it allows her to descend in the middle of town with a little more patience, allowing her to smooth out her skirts before her sensible shoes touch the ground and set off at a brisk pace to go about her errands, picking up gingerbread and soap and medicine and other necessities of the like.

The wind has placed Mary Poppins in front of many doors. Not just the doors of her employers, but of the many friends and family she has and that she is always sure to visit such as her Uncle Albert, dear Mrs. Cory, Nellie Rubina, and others.

Somedays the wind doesn't do anything. Somedays Mary Poppins sits on a star or a cloud and watches the world change from up above. "How funny," she thinks, "To be able to dance around so many lives and yet never really be part of them."

It's a thought that sometimes saddens her, but the wind is also a great friend and whenever her sentiments begins to get muddled, there is sure to be another gust to pick her up and carry her on her way.

Mary Poppins has been all over the world, carried only by the wind. She has been to many places and has seen many different people and a great many strange things. Out of all the places she has been to, she has decided that her absolute favorite city is London. Out of all the spots in London to land, out of all the doorways, out of all the streets and clouds, her absolute favorite spot is just outside the park.

Somedays the wind is very kind to her. On these days, the air is usually calmer, the clouds are usually softer, and usually no one is around to see her land save one other. On these days the wind allows Mary Poppins to gently float down to the pavement just outside the park where Bert stands waiting for her. Once her feet have touched the ground, she is in his arms faster than the wind could ever take her.
