Disclaimer: I do not own Shaman King
Author Note: Right, this is my first time writing a fanfiction (and a piece of fiction outside of school work ; ) so I don't expect it to be very good but I greatly appreciate you taking the time to read it and (hopefully) providing me with some constructive criticism. Anyway this is supposed to HaoxYoh and is based off the song Pet by A Perfect Circle although I don't think it qualifies as a songfic. Well either way, enjoy.
He stood at the window looking out at the picturesque scene but rather then seeing gently sloping hills and forest he saw the blurred faces of people he could no longer remember.
Like ghosts, words floated through his head and fluttered from his mouth "…Manta…Ren…Horohoro…Lyserg…Anna-"
A hand abruptly landed on his shoulder gently spinning him around to face his mirror image. The seemingly perfect copy reached up his other hand to gently cup the boy's face.
"Don't fret precious, I'm here. Step away from the window."
Hao tenderly grasped the hand of his twin and led him back to the bed with a tender smile. He tucked the lost boy in with the silk sheets while Yoh starred blankly at the ceiling.
"Really Yoh," Hao admonished with a kind smile, "you shouldn't try to bring up those nasty memories. But don't worry I'll protect you from them, I'll protect from everything." Yoh turned his head slowly to face his brother and uttered tonelessly "I know nii-san…you're the only one I need." Hao's smile broadened at the words "That's right otouto, don't mind what those nasty voices of your friends say," he spat the word friends like it was poison but brightened as he continued "they don't care about you like I do. I'llkeep you safe from them and your own foolish notions." To this Yoh let only a faint "ah" escape his dry lips before to turning back to look at the ceiling.
At this Hao only gave a close eyed smile as he reached down to move his brother's bangs.
"Now go back to sleep dearest and don't mind rabble okay?"
Yoh let out a small nod and while Hao reached down to give him a quick peck on the cheek and disappeared in a burst of flames.
After a while the younger twin turned to his side and curled up in the bed and fell asleep to the anguished cries of those dieing in fires and the last soft thoughts of someone who he could no longer remember.
