A/N I hope you like it…

Hermione Granger was more or less the ordinary girl, with ordinary hopes and dreams that the ordinary Head Girl of Hogwarts might have. She was, to the world, a bookworm who had the fortune for good friends and a family that loved her. She wasn't that uncomplicated. There was more to it all. And there was much more to Hermione Granger.

She woke up that morning, at 4:30 AM as per usual and looked out her window. Sure enough, Draco Malfoy stood by the lake. He was beautiful. If anyone believed that men were not beautiful, they would stand corrected by Draco Malfoy. He was so different from what people believed him to be. He wasn't just hard and cold. He had a heart. There was more to Draco Malfoy.

She slowly put on her black robes over her night gown and quietly and swiftly left the dormitory, paying no attention to the snores of Lavender Brown. She snuck to the boy's dormitories and, telling herself that it was all worth it, she grabbed the Invisibility Cloak from Harry's trunk and draped it over herself.

Hermione crept out and practically ran down the stairs, making as little noise as possible.

And so it began.

She snuck past the green houses, and past the Quidditch pitch, until she reached the pristine lake. She could see him now. Draco, who had been staring carefully at the lake until now, looked around curiously, and a slow smile spread over his face.

"Granger, show yourself."

She was shocked. She had made not a sound and was completely invisible to the human eye. Accepting defeat, she shrugged the cloak off herself. It was a relief. Two cloaks could feel pretty hot.

"How did you know I was here?"

"I can always tell when you're around."

He offered no further explanation and she smiled, checking around to ensure that they were alone.

And they were.

The cool night breeze swept over the two of them…And they basked in it. The moon was full that night. Perfect for the Gryffindor and Slytherin; it was just the way they liked it.

No one could interrupt them there. Neither cared about their blood or house.

She talked about her friends and her problems, her grades and how she thought they were slipping. He listened to her through it all.

He was her greatest source of comfort. She could confide in him about everything, as could he in her. They trusted each other like no other Gryffindor and Slytherin.

"So, Malfoy, have you heard from your parents yet?"

They had become so accustomed to using last names that they didn't bother to change now. She enquired about the letter Draco had been expecting. She always worried for him. He needed this.

"Yes."

"And?"

"And nothing…Father had his choice of swear words as usual…"

There was more to it and Hermione knew it. But if he didn't want to talk about it, she wouldn't press the issue.

"Maybe, we should stop…you know…meeting around the school," he said forcefully.

She stared at him.

"Just for a while…"

His voice was weak, almost begging her. They both knew that it would be final if they ended it.

"Granger, please say something."

"Why?"

"Because my father hinted that he knew about it."

"So? I thought you didn't care."

"I don't! But what about you? You don't know anything; about what it's like…and how it can be with Lucius."

"But I don't care," she defied him.

"I do."

"Then go," she said simply.

And he did. He stood up, flung his cloak on and turned around, starting his way up to the castle. He never turned back.

And so it ended.
