Disclaimer: To my great dismay, I find that am not Mercedes Lackey, and I do not own any of these characters. The poem is mine, though, so no touchy!

If anyone is wondering, this is from Vanyel's point of view, speaking to Tylendel. The first five lines tell you that Vanyel is in the chapel where he visits 'Lendel for the last time and soon after tries to commit suicide. This poem is leading up to that decision.

This may continue and cover the later years in the series and a lot of the major events, but I'm not sure. It depends on what my reviews say! hint! hint!

Vanyel and Tylendel's Tragedy

I miss you,

let me kiss you.

Your cold cheek

and limp hands

are the only reminders.

That moment on the tower,

when you abandoned me ever after

has crushed me forever.

How could you leave me like this

and embrace death's kiss

like a lover in your arms?

When She repudiated you,

leaving my 'Lendel torn and askew

I would have ripped my heart in two,

giving that part of me to the empty part of you.

Because I see your face in everything,

and everything is you.

I'm afraid of being alone,

just like you.

Without you I am lost,

I cannot be found.

Because without you, ashke,

the ice-walls of dreaming will close on me.

Forever.

You cannot save me now, as you did before,

and I cannot save you.

The cup of life is cracked and broken,

but nothing will end my love for you.
