Its only 2 am but Akane Aiba is sure of two things.

Her phone won't stop ringing and -

"Its too goddamn early for this." Yuuko growls from the other side of the bed.

Yeah, that.

Its been years since the catastrophic events she and her friends went through but it seems their lives would only be getting more hectic. The 'Digital Monster' app served it purpose to connect her with the Digimon she had taken great pains to raise during that time.

"MASTER!" A loud screech was emitted from her phone.

The unfortunate side of that was when the creatures decided it could work the other way round. Still half asleep and feeling less then charitable she pulled the phone to her. The screen was too bright and the Lopmon waving it's ears at her too cheery.

"I'm done with my training! Do I get some meat now?"

Yuuko twitched violently obviously not happy to have been awakened this early for that. It wasn't an uncommon occurance for Akane to have to wake up and be gone this early though. Working for the human Kyoko was almost as bad and demanding as the Alphamon one especially when the woman seemed inclined to call her at all hours any day of the week. Kyoko was starting to allow her on more serious cases.

"Ya ya, I'll feed you." She said softly tossing the bunny a virtual hunk of meat and closing the app.

"If this becomes as regular a thing as Kyoko-san calling you I'm kicking you to the couch."

Akane didn't offer a response - only rolled over and nuzzled against her agitated girlfriend.

"Oh, no. I'm not forgiving you that easily." Yuuko grumped.

She wiggled in closer anyway, "Pwetty pwease with a cherry on top?"

"Only if that cherry is on top of a pie - an actual pie."

Akane snorted wrapping her arms around the other girl. It was funny how quick she was to add that last bit on knowing full well with Akane's imagination ran to so often. She did owe Yuuko big though for putting up with her odd hours and periods of not seeing each other these last few months. She'd never expected Kyoko to let her work a murder case let alone expected the way it turned out.

You generally didn't look at a kid think: sociopath capable of murdering her parents and claim a burglar - who came through the computer - did it.

It turned out the kid was a sociopath. She hadn't felt any remorse over the crime but had understood she'd be punished for it. Not finding that a good end she'd lied about having been the perpetrator. In the meantime Akane had been running from one end of Tokyo to the other looking for murderous cat burglars. Or worse - murderous digimon.

It hadn't happened yet but the events with Crusadermon would always stick out fresh in her brain. She kept her digimon close at all times even if Arata thought it ridiculous.

"We're not kids anymore Aiba. We don't need the Digimon taking care of us anymore." He'd say not realizing she could see Beelzemon lighting up his screen as he said it.

They'd only 'officially' been partners for a year but Akane had known him almost her entire life. She knew better than to take his words at face value. So she'd only snorted and rolled her eyes and continued to divide digimeat to her new batch of rookies.

"Akane did you fall back asleep?"

"No, sorry. I was just thinking."

"Then about that pie?"

Akane laughed, "I brought some home last night. And lots of whipped cream~."

It was totally worth the playful smack Yuuko gave her.
