"Does it hurt?" Robin didn't have to turn around; he knew who it was just by the sound of the others voice. It was Superboy, the newest member on the team.
"Does what hurt?" Robin looked away from his computer screen; he examined the boy next to him carefully. The other was mid height, his hair black and short with blue eyes, today he wore a pair of blue jeans and a black shirt with a red S. He looked just like Superman. Well, he should, he was after all his clone.
"Your heart." He said softly. Superboy had an uncanny ability to read Robin better then he did himself. He got down on one knee, his left hand resting on Robins arm. "You feel sad, why? Why are you hurting?"
Robin felt a blush coming on and quickly turned away, his heart beat quickening. "I'm fine Superboy, just tired is all." He went back to his typing but the other didn't go away.
"No your not. Robin I may be new to this world but I'm good with emotions and I know you're upset. I want to know why, because seeing you this upset is making my heart hurt." His right hand touched his own chest, looking sadly at the boy wonder. "Did I hurt you?"
"Just go away!" Robin shouted, surprising Superboy by his sudden yell. "I said I'm fine!" He pushed the other away, getting up quickly from the desk. Superboy didn't miss a moment; he had his arms wrapped around the other as he forced him to stay in place.
"You're hurting so much. Why?" He felt Robin shake within his arms, he was fighting back tears and Superboy could tell. "What happened?"
"M-my parents are dead." He finally whispered, the tears flooding down his face. "Today is their anniversary of their death." He clutched Superboys arms tightly, afraid that the other would go. He needed this comfort.
"What happened?"
"They were murdered, we used to be the flying Grayson's, then they were murdered." He kept whispering murdered as if it would some how bring them back. "I have no one."
"You have me and kid flash; we'll be your family." Superboy whispered his mouth close to his ear.
"It's not the same, it wouldn't work." Superboy turned him around, his eyes boring into the others even though he wore a pair of sunglasses.
"Maybe we can make it work." He whispered pressing his lips gently to Robins, smiling as he met no resistance. "I'll be your family and I'll protect you."
