Sirius was at the window, a cigarette in hand, watching the stars twinkle as the sun poked its head over the hills when Narcissa awoke. She sat up and stared at his back for a long while, not quite awake, before rolling over and fishing for the pack of cigarettes by the bed. "It's empty," Sirius told her without turning around. She straightened the sheets around her, clutching them to her chest.

"Is it morning yet?" she asked, ready to talk even as she smothered a yawn.

He turned to face her with gentle eyes. "No, we've a couple hours left. Go back to sleep."

She huffed. "Sirius, we have to talk about this. What are we going to do? How is this going to change things?"

"We will talk - in the morning." He put out his cigarette and climbed back in bed, wrapping her in his arms. She struggled, turning to face him.

"Sirius-"

"I know you have questions, love, and we have things to figure out, but you need your sleep, and the sun is still waking up. Now isn't the right time." He kissed her eyelids lovingly and pulled her tighter to his chest. "I will see you in the morning."

"Promise you won't be gone?" she asked his chest hair

"Promise."

She woke to an empty bed and was married at noon.
