AN: Heya! Ok, this is my first attempt at a Smallville fic, and I am totally for Lana/Clark. I haven't even watched a minute of the new season...but then again I haven't really had time -eh, anyway. I hope I didn't do too badly. Might be kinda on the short side, but it's only a re-written ending.

Spoiler"Forsaken".

Disclaimer: There would be no Lois Lane if I owned Smallville. But that's just me.

(picks up where Lana and Clark were talking at the end of the episode)

"So" Lana stepped a little closer. "There was something you wanted to tell me" Clark hesitated, looking into her beautiful eyes.

"I've wanted to tell you something for a while now. If I do, I can't ever take it back. But" Lana's face fell. "What I could tell you is what's pushing away my best friend. It could put you in more danger, and I wouldn't be able to live with myself if something happened to you. I don't want to burden you, especially since you're going so far away from here tomorrow. I wouldn't want to put that load on your shoulders." He sighed, and dropped his eyes, unable to look at her.

"Clark, let me decide what to believe and what to carry with me in my heart. Please give me that choice." He looked back up at her, seeing hope and love in those eyes. He had no idea what was reflected in his, but when he locked eyes with her in that moment, he couldn't refuse her request.

"Lana, I've been able to save you, hear things, and know things that seem unreal, because I can do things humans can't. I'm not of this earth. I came with the meteor shower all those years ago. I'm an alien with superhuman powers. It's my fault your parents died." Such regret filled his voice and anguish in his eyes that he could not bear to look at her again. She stood, stunned while he turned his back to her. "I think I love you, but I can understand if you hate me, and never want to see me again. I can only hope that no one ever comes after you to get to me."

"Cl- cl..." She couldn't even say his name as the pieces of the puzzle came together in her mind. It all made perfect sense and all the 'weird' things suddenly weren't so weird. Then it dawned on her what had just happened. He practically put his life - not to mention his heart - into her hands.

She was frozen, and he was just about to walk away from her forever.

AN: Mwahahahah! I stopped writing right here. I'm not entirely sure what I want to do with this, so you have to let me know what you want me to do. This could become a full-fledged story if I make it so Lana never leaves, or even if she does things could happen...blah. I wrote this after seeing the episode, but it ended right there. Drop me a review if you want me to continue!
