Star Fox

Realizations

Fox sat on a tall hill looking at the sun as it rose. The sky was a perfect shade of orange and the whole thing was as beautiful as it had been the last time he had seen something like this. He felt as if all of this made the battles with the Aparoids worth it, as if it all the lives that had been lost hadn't been lost in vain. And the sight was simply perfectly romantic.

That thought brought on something of a strange feeling in Fox, as if this was a moment that should be shared with someone he loved, not spent by himself. But he never seemed to have anyone who could fill that role in his life, at least none that he thought he had a real chance with. But if there was one girl that he would want to be there with him it would've been Krystal. The one girl that he had ever truly loved, and the one girl that he was convinced was out of his reach, and thus for the past year he had never dared to try and be anything more than friends.

But still, the fact remained he was convinced that he loved her, and that of all the women he could have in the universe, she was the only one that he really wanted. When he was around her he didn't feel like he did around girls that he thought were hot, not that he didn't think that of Krystal, when it came to her he thought she was a goddess, but he didn't feel that feeling of simple lust, that need to be physical. Instead he felt that need to simply be with her and know that she liked him genuinely. But no matter what he just couldn't bring himself to believe that she wanted to be more than just friends, even though he wanted to, desperately.

As he thought about this he became oblivious to the world around him, and it took him a moment to realize that someone was saying his name, but then he realized it wasn't just someone, it was her. Standing up and turning around he immediately felt the feeling of butterfly's in his stomach "Hi Krystal, what are you doing up here?"

Krystal smiled a little and said "Actually I was looking for you, I wanted to talk."

Fox smiled and said "Well then, why don't we sit and do that."

As the two sat Fox began to wonder what it was that she wanted to talk about, he hoped it was nothing bad. "So, what did you want to talk about?"

Krystal didn't reply immediately, in all honesty she was a bit afraid to tell him what she wanted to tell him, after all, she didn't know what the answer would be, and she was afraid that all of this could be for nothing. Finally she said "Fox, I have something I want to tell you, and I've been meaning to tell you ever since I met you, but I've just never been able to find the courage to say it."

Fox did his best not to appear a bit hopeful about what she was going to tell him, "Well, what is it?"

Krystal closed her eyes and then said "Fox, I love you."

Fox looked at her, had he just heard that? Had she just said that she loved him? Had she just answered the question he had been wanting to ask since he met her? He managed however to remember that she might be expecting him to say something back, so he said that first thing he could think of "Krystal, I love you too, with all my heart, and from the moment I first saw you."

They both look into each other's eyes, and a moment later they were kissing for the first time. When they broke away they both smiled and held hands and watched the sunrise on their new love.
