James watched enviously as Gordon and Molly made gooey eyes at each other for the 10th time that day. He felt very jealous- why, he wanted to meet a girl and be a couple.

So he set off to find love somewhere.

As he puffed along, he thought of all the female engines he knew - and soon thought of one.

Daisy the Diesel Railcar!

'Perfect!' Thought James happily. "I'll go and see her right away."

So he did.

...

He found her at Thomas' branch line.

"Hello Daisy!" He called out.

"Why hello James." Daisy purred. "What can I do for you?"

"I just want to talk, that's all." James replied.

"Alright." Said Daisy.

...

So they did. James mentioned his old phobias, and Daisy listened. Whilst they talked, James noted that though Daisy was nice enough, she didn't have a lot in common with him. This was worrying, as his parents had a lot of things in common.

"So, Daisy," puffed the red engine. "I have some milk tankers to take to

Maron. Do you want to take it instead? I've heard you've become more receptive of milk runs."

"Sorry James, but I have other things to do." Daisy huffed , and she oiled away.

James felt crushed and crestfallen. What had he done wrong?

Would he ever find love?

...

Thomas and Ryan, who was helping Thomas since Percy was ill, and it was too busy for both Toby and Thomas to handle, looked at James in concern.

"What was that about, James?" Thomas asked his friend.

"Hey Thomas. I wanted to be a couple with someone."

"How come?" Ryan asked curiously.

James explained all that had happened earlier, on how he had seen his parents happy and him wanting the same thing.

"James, you don't have to force yourself to find love." Thomas told him. You're you, and no one can change that. Why, I'm sure you'll find love someday, James, and I bet it will make you as happy as your parents."

"Yeah! But just be yourself. It will make things easier foe both you and her." Ryan added.

James managed a smile.

"Thanks guys. I feel a lot better now."

And he did. He decided that love could wait a while. He still had his friends.
