A kiss is a terrible thing to waste and he wants their first kiss to be memorable. Instead, it's sloppy, and drunk, and rushed. He promises himself he'll never get conned into another stupid party game where you have to spend time in a closet. He's surprised when she agrees to go out with him again.

Their second kiss is in the bed of his pick up truck, out in Mr. Thompson's back field, on a night when the Panther's loose a big game and Billy's been ridding him about grades. It's tender and compassionate and everything their first kiss should have been. The stars blanket them in a romantic glow and he leans in and whispers, "You, me, and Texas forever."

Their third kiss is once again sloppy and drunk but it's slower and this time she lets him slide his hand up underneath her tee shirt to fondle her through the lace of her bra. She arches up into his caress as their tongues slide against one another and he thinks this isn't so bad.

Kisses four through…, well he actually looses count at this point, lead to naked flesh sliding and grinding against naked flesh and it feels fucking amazing. Her skin is freckled with imperfections that make her perfect, a mole here and a birth mark there. He thinks she's the most beautiful thing he's ever seen and enjoys sliding into her, watching the way her face contorts in ecstasy, and listening to the way his name sounds as it escapes her lips.

The next few kisses come after huge fights about flirting rally girls and strangers that succeed in getting into her pants. He fights a couple of them but eventually gives up, realizing that this is who they are, what they are, and that they'll continue to hurt each other until one of them can't take it any longer and they finally end it once and for all. The kisses aren't romantic but they do lead to hot, angry sex in semi public places and he thinks maybe he can live with the rest of it.

It does end, eventually, and they go their separate ways, kissing others that aren't Tim, aren't Tyra. They drift apart on the sea of high school and they both end up leaving Dillon after graduation. Tim blows out his knee during the first game of his sophomore year at San Antonio State and returns to Dillon much to Billy's disappointment. He throws himself into the garage and helping Coach Tyler with the East Dillon team but it's not the same. Jason's gone. Lyla's gone. Tyra's gone. He's not surprised when Lyla finally calls and gives up on him. She was never meant for a small town so he wishes her the best and hangs up without a second thought.

Tyra also returns to Dillon, two years after Tim, and accepts a teaching job at East Dillon High. She wants to make a difference in someone's life the way Mrs. Taylor made a difference in her life. Tim barely recognizes her so he invites her to dinner so they can catch up. They end the night with a chaste kiss on the cheek and it leaves Tim wanting more.

They spend the holidays together as a family and it's chaotic like most things that combine the Riggins' and Collette's. Mindy burns the turkey, Billy drops the pumpkin pie on the floor, and so they end up eating Christmas dinner at Applebee's. There's a garland of mistletoe marking the entrance and Mrs. Collette insists that Tyra and Tim share a kiss underneath it. They hesitate but eventually give in. Her lips are soft and sweet, and he cautiously slips the tip of his tongue between them to test the waters. She parts her lips, letting her tongue graze his and the kiss becomes so much more than it should have been.

There are more kisses over the next two to three years and the all lead to a crowd of friends and family gathered into a small church on the outskirts of town. She says I do and he says I do and they share a kiss that rivals every other kiss they've ever shared. As they pull away he whispers softly, "You, me, and Texas forever," and this time it's not just meaningless words it's a promise he has every intention of keeping.
