The Clearing

He didn't know why he did it. Why he'd saved her, it probably would have been better if he'd just left her. Then maybe she wouldn't haunt his dreams so often. All he knew was at that very moment seeing the young kunoichi lying there, crumpled in a pool of her own blood, slowly fading away- something about that image compelled him to protect her. Which was strange in and of itself because he wasn't a particularly kind person. He'd been deceiving people all his life, not caring who got hurt in the process. Picking up the girl, he couldn't help but notice how well she fit into his arms.

Blasts came from the distance, testament to the on-going battle between his master and her friends. Jumping to the trees, the silver-haired medic-nin carried the young kunoichi to a small, secluded clearing.

Laying her on the ground, the medic started to administer to her various wounds and injuries obtained throughout the course of their battles.

"You." He felt her say it more than hear it. It was a short, sharp hiss packed with so much hate, he couldn't help but wince when she said it. Which was strange, since he didn't care what people thought of him, whether they hated him or not...... but from her, it felt like she'd stabbed him with a dull blade.

Leaning back a little, he looked into the now open vibrant green eyes of his charge, eyes that reminded him so much of a happier time in his life when he wasn't a traitor and wasn't so screwed up.

It's nice to see you awake, Haruno-san." The silver-haired male smiled at her, pushing up his glasses.

"Trying to kill me, Yakushi-san." She spat out at him, struggling to her feet.

"So distrusting, Haruno-san. Can't a medic-nin help a follow medic-nin once in a while?"

Scowling at him, Sakura took an awkward step forward only to fall into her hated adversary.

"Easy there, princess." Kabuto laughed, catching her as she fell into him. "I just healed you."

Shaking off his 'helping' hands, the pink-haired medic-nin stepped back, staring into his dark eyes, her countenance belying how annoyed she felt at that moment.

Kabuto just watched her, still smiling, wondering why the hell now of all times he had to notice how cute she looked angry. He could feel an unfamiliar stirring in his stomach, perhaps he was falling ill.

Another blast shook the clearing, making Sakura fall into Kabuto again.

Catching her once more, Kabuto leaned towards the girl, stopping just mere inches from her ear. His voice pitched low, he whispered into her ear, his warm breath tickling against her neck.

Abruptly, he let the pink-haired kunoichi go, making her stumble slightly. Regaining her balance, Sakura glowered at the silver-haired male only to be met by a wide smirk on his part.

"Well then, Haruno-san. I'll leave you here. Try not to get yourself hurt whilst I'm gone." He said sarcastically.

"Next time we meet, I'll break your freaking neck." She snapped back.

Laughing quietly to himself, Kabuto leapt back into the trees. He couldn't help but think she'd made a fine medic and kunoichi as he left the clearing. A small smile graced his lips as he made his way back to Orochimaru-sama.

A/N: I wrote this a few years ago but have just decided to post. I have no idea what I was thinking when I wrote this but here you go an encounter between Sakura and Kabuto. There's no pairing here though, just a snapshot from many. And I really have no clue what he was supposed to have whispered to her. :(

Well hope you like.
