I don't have much to say, it's my first time writing a HSM. Not sure how it will go but I hope you enjoy!
The murmur of the crowd, the whisper, the rumours. They were all too much for Ryan to handle. He absolutely hated it. No matter how much his sister bat them away, they always came back.
Even the strong will crumble in the end much less for the weak. And I am weak Ryan thought. After all, he was only known as Sharpay's shadow. A shadow that only exist because of the light and yet is overlooked because of the light. His existence was his own weakness.
That was it. He couldn't take anymore. The voices followed him no matter where he ran. It echoed in the hallways, in the classrooms, in his brain…
"Let them talk Ryan, their opinions doesn't matter." Sharpay tried to encourage his twin with no result because it did matter. It did matter to Ryan what people thought of him. As much as he appreciated his twin's efforts, he knew that people's opinions of Sharpay mattered to her as well. He can pretend that it doesn't faze him but it still pierces him, scratches him, slowly tears him apart piece by piece. As if life could get any worse.
"Hey Ryan…" Someone sat down on his desk. Ryan looked up and met face to face with Troy Bolton, the all-purpose golden boy of East High. Other conversations stopped as his classmates turned to the duo, waiting for the confrontation.
"Hi…" He greeted back softly.
"So there's this rumour that you might be gay…" The all-star basketball player seemed to be rather uncomfortable, this is a first Ryan muse. He doesn't mention it and waited for Troy to continue. By this time, his side-kick Chad appeared by his side looking curious as well. "It's not that I care whether you are or not… you know… but I-we just wanted to know because… some people approached me and they told me that they don't feel comfortable being around you when they are uncertain..."
That was the last straw. All this time it never mattered to them, so why was it so important now? He hasn't changed in the next 6 years, why was it a big deal now? Hero Troy of course had to represent the student body and "straighten out" the problem.
"Bolton that is enough! What are you trying to do to my brother?!" Sharpay demanded.
"I'm not doing anything!" Troy defended. "Well… not really I don't think…"
It's no use though. All the people are already expecting some sort of answer from him, something that will give them something to talk about for the next week.
"Just leave him alone!" Sharpay shrieked. It only made things worse for him.
"Ha, I can't believe it…" Ryan choked out, his head hung low on hi desk. Silence hung in the room, it was the first time Ryan said anything about this. He can feel the stares on him, making him smaller and smaller. His vision was blurring a bit, or maybe it was just his imagination. Of all the things that people care about him, it was his stupid sexuality. He felt so tired, very tired. Every words piled up on him, weighing him down. Finally Ryan gave in and let the words crush him.
What do you guys think?
