~New Year's Eve~

The clock was ticking, counting down the last minutes before the end of the past year.

A new time was dawning; a time without corruption within the center of the country, a time without war – hopefully.

Dreams were said to come true this last night of the old times. This last hour of December before it turned into January again, the beginning of a new start.

Loud music and talking could be heard all over Central City. People were celebrating not only the New Year, but also the fall away of an enemy within that had tried to ruin everything they held dear.

When it came to celebrating, nothing was louder than the Central HQ. A group of people had gathered there, all of them a part of what had happened earlier that year.

Winry grinned as she looked out on the group. Ling and Ran Fan had disappeared just some minutes earlier, both of them saying something about private stuff, Mei and Alphonse talked about something in a corner – they stopped once someone got too close -, Colonel Mustang had finally got First Lieutenant under the mistletoe – something he had tried to do the entire evening.

Others were just playing around; dancing and chatting with everyone.

Only one person was missing from her sight, and a door leading outside explained well enough where he had gone.

The girl didn't hesitant a bit before she followed.

Edward stood outside in the cold snow, watching someone fire of early fireworks, just like she had expected him to. Winry could understand that he hadn't noticed her yet when she came up behind him. If he had, he would have turned around already, giving her his famous grin.

"Why are you all the way out here?" she asked, wondering about the answer.

"You see that?" Edward asked, pointing at something in the distant. Winry saw where his fingers pointed.

"It's firework?" she asked, trying to figure out why he was looking at it. He smiled, but before he could say anything more, the clock turned twelve, and the entire city was lighten up by fireworks. People came running from the party to watch the show, and they were no longer alone.

"Happy New Year, Win" Edward said once he got the chance.

"Happy New Year, Ed," she answered with as she watched him disappear in the crowd.

Maybe he would come visiting more often this year.

Maybe she would be able to tell him how much she loved him.

A/N: Stupid, I know. I just was in mood for something to celebrate the New Year with^^ Happy New Year, everyone! I hope 2010 becomes great for you all!
