Sonya walked through the tree house of Sector W, a bucket of pink paint splashing in her left hand, a bristly brush with a pink handle in the right. She arrived in the kitchen and dipped the brush into the pink paint and made a bright smear across the dull wood. She hummed a cheery tune as a bright pink arch made it's way across the wood. She set the brush into the sink with the tap gushing and went to her room again.
This time she brought out a bucket of red paint and made another streak following the original across the wall. She did this with purple and ballerina pink until all the colors fell together in a giant arch across the kitchen wall. She stepped back to survey her work- pretty good, considering she was only seven, and she wasn't that talented with a brush.
She cleaned up the items and strode to her room. All this work made her hungry. She tore the wrapper of a Coconut Log and stuffed it into her mouth. She chewed the chocolate and savored the coconut. Well, until a shriek and a clatter made her spit it out.
She raced into the kitchen. Harvey was standing there, his hazel eyes wide open, his mouth agape. Sonya took a mental picture of the scene and backed into her room, stepping on a plastic disk. The crack of the material diverted Harvey's attention, and he focused on the guilty young blonde.
"What the Yipper! Sonya! Did you do this?" Harvey shrieked.
"Ummm…" she focused on her shoes and said nothing.
"How could you do this?" he gestured wildly to the dripping paint on the kitchen wall.
"Ummm…" she mumbled under her breath. Now that she thought about it, she should've taken Harvey into her planning.
"Do you know how long this will take to get off?" he screeched, slapping his hand in the wet paint. A look of distaste, horror and pure anger crossed the boy's face as he realized what he had done. He painstakingly pulled his hand out of the paint and flung it around, causing speckles of pink to dot the kitchen walls and floors, not to mention the young boy who had just entered.
"Hey, Harvey. Not cool." The boy said, wiping the pink dots of his shirt.
"Look Lee, look!" Harvey yelled, pointing to the arch, "Sonya did this! She painted this…this…"
"Rainbow?" Lee offered.
"Yes, rainbow, across the wall!" Harvey yelled, "Like she painted a self portrait!"
Lee focused on the blushing operative shifting on her feet nervously. "She does look like a rainbow, doesn't she?" Sonya's head whipped up at this comment. She blushed furiously and ran into her room.
"Aw, whatever." Harvey gave up and settled on the couch with a Yipper comic and a bag of chips.
"Huh." Lee looked after her and took a bucket of gray paint from his room and painted a few dark clouds across the rainbow, to make it look more suitable.
When Sonya finally came out of her room, she took one look at the picture and grinned. The picture was finally completed.
