More Than That

"Aaaargh~" Himeji was crouched down on the floor with her head in her hands. Adachi was sitting across from her, properly, with her legs tucked underneath her. "Whyyy Hana-saaaan~? Why's it have to be like this~?" She whined for the umpteenth time. Such was the scenario that the boys of the student council walked in on.

"What's the matter, shorty?"

"Shinagawa-kun! It's horrible!" Himeji was instantly on her feet, her blushing face only inches away from Shinagawa's. "I've been getting love confessions all day long!"

"What's so bad about getting love confessions?" He asked, completely confused.

"I, personally, would be ecstatic to receive a love confession on Valentine's Day." Chiba mumbled, pushing up his glasses as he thought of a specific someone.

"Argh! There it is! That word again!" She threw a sneer at anyone who was looking and huffed. "That St. Valentine guy is the bane of my existence!"

"You know, there are many stories that speculate the origin of Valentine's day. A common favorite is a legend about how St. Valentine was a martyr who helped two lovers who were cruelly separated by assisting them in the exchange their letters of love. The man was in prison and his wife wasn't allowed to go anywhere near him under penalty of death. And it was for the sake of their love that he was shot through the heart by an arrow. However this story is pretty much a myth and has no real substantial evidence to it's—"

"Fuck Valentine's Day! I FUCKING HATE IT!" Himeji stormed out of the room, cutting Izumi off before he had a chance to finish what he was saying.

"This is all your fault, midget."

"You better shut your ass up, wanna-be vice president."

"Uhm, Adachi-san, why does Himeji-san hate Valentine's Day so much?"

Adachi looked up at Chiba with a somewhat sad smile. "Because today is Rinka's birthday, but that always gets overlooked by Valentine's Day, so she's always getting confessions but never any birthday congratulations."

"Oh, so that's why she was so upset." Shinagawa and Izumi had stopped fighting in order to listen to Adachi's explanation.

"But I understand how she feels, cause my birthday is on April Fool's Day!"

"Yeah, that doesn't surprise me." Shinagawa said, almost expecting something of that nature from Adachi.

"Hey, where'd Izumi go?

"What, am I supposed to keep tabs on the guy? He's so short he's completely under my radar."

Luckily, Izumi had already been out of the room before Shinagawa's comment could reach his ears. "Himeji!"

"Leave me alone!"

"Wait up, shorty-brat!"

"Hypocrite!"

"Just wait a second, I have something for you!"

"What!" Himeji stopped short and turned around quickly, getting her face smacked by the full bloom of an antique looking rose. It was white, but the tips were pink and wrinkled. Beautiful.

"Happy Birthday."

Author's Note

Yup yup. Sappy and cheesy, but whatever. It's valentines day, this holiday NEEDS sap and cheese to survive! Though I suggest it goes on a diet.
