The Daily Inspiration thread 20.4th Feb (scenario) missing an important deadline and realising only when it's too late

Task: Write a story about someone wrongly estimating how much time something would take, and having to suffer the consequences.

Word count:552

Sophy looked at the clock again; it was the third time she checked it, but she wanted to make sure that she didn't miss the Portal, the deadline for entering the Phoenixia realm. She didn't want to be stucked in the Waiting Room during the Betrayal.

What? One would say. Somewhere in the future someone betrayed the light sight and the Wizarding Immortal Council or WIC had to clear the Waiting Room, the place in between from where you could see all the world, all the realities that existed. She was from the future, the current Sophy was at home reading. Well, she was from one future, she was pretty sure there was more future Sophys around, but just one had the Crown of Phoenix. Her.

Betrayal meant that one of them had disrupted the files where everything was written. She was guarding them, but right now because she knew what was going to happen she also had to sort them out. She knew what files had been compromised, she had been there after all when everyone had found out that someone had messed around, being touched by evil. It was a tedious work; she had an infinite number of files to sort and she was just halfway. If she did not sort them there was a chance that her future will change and thus she would stop being there creating a paradox. Said paradox was bad because she didn't belong in this in-between realm so she didn't exist there, so just Time could heal it. (Or so she thought).

But her job as Crowned Queen of Phoenix made interact with parts of the WIC and she had become friends with them; even before she had been crowned; that's how she had met Luna.

Anyway she had to sort all the files, she had to. Professor Slytherin had asked her to do it; she had to. It couldn't take much longer to find that file; four important members of the week, another version of the Founders of Hogwarts had their life written out there!

When she finally found the file and put it as it had been when the traitor had managed to sneak in, she looked at the lock again and she felt her heart freeze.

She had missed the portal. It was too late for her to

leave now. She had been warned to hurry up, Harry from the Mirror Verse(to be explained later; it's just another universe), had told her that time could be tricky and she hadn't listened. That showed that she still was very young. She still didn't was the Sophy they knew. She was just a younger, older version of herself. Younger for the WIC members and older for the young versions of the people from Phoenixia.

But now she had no idea what to do. She had been reckless and didn't check the time; she had to face the consequences.

She had two choices: stay and make herself invisible or try to enter randomly in an Universe that had the Portal couldn't be found by the thief.

She felt like like crying. How could have she possibly missed the deadline for the Portal? When time was relative?

But it was too late to dwell on that. She had a decision to take.
