5 Things Minako Would never say

The crown arcade was filled with loving couples and searching singles but she was not in the mood for this kind of scene. The only reason she was even here was because her four best girlfriends had dragged her along for the ride. She was sick of the melodrama and just wanted to go home and lay down. Lately she'd been feeling as though the world was against her and in truth it was.

"So Minako how are things on the boyfriend front?" the tall brunette Makoto asked suddenly out of the blue as her green eyes searched hers.

"What are you talking about, Mako-chan?" the blond asked in a daze at the suddeness of the question. Had the girls been discussing boys and she was off in la la land much like Usa-chan did.

"I'm talking about that tall brunette that you were chatting up the other day at the mall."

"Oh." So Makoto had seen that. Had she noticed that her friend had not seemed as interested in the man as he had been in her.

"Is he your boyfriend yet?" Rei-chan asked mischievously, she was used to her friends sudden changing list of boyfriends.

Minako however, did notice that Usagi and Ami were giving her strange looks. They looked worried leave it up to the other two to bring up something that the two most perceptive people in their group would pick up on her tone of voice. "I don't want a boyfriend." she stated simply. Might as well get that out there while she could. After all it would be better not to delay the news.

The group of girls gasped even as Usa-chan, the girl whom held them together placed a sympathizing hand on Minako's own. They were so much alike and yet so different even she knew that Usa must know that.

"You. Don't. Want. A. Boyfriend?" Rei-chan said slowly as though her mind hadn't quite caught up with Minako's words just yet.

"Why?" Mako-chan all but yelled out at her.

"Simple. Love does not exist for me." she all but whispered into the silence that followed Makoto's outburst. Her cheeks suddenly a flame with the thought of every one looking at them trying to divine what had happened.

"Mina-chan, you of all people know that love exists for everyone." Usagi said softly as she tried to catch her friend's eyes.

"Bu…" the girls started even as Usagi's pale hand stopped their questions in their tracks. They deferred to her she was their leader and she was worried about the most outgoing member of their group.

"Mina-chan, what's going on?" Usagi asked softly as she looked her friend over trying to find the emotional wound that she was sure had caused her friend to say these outrageous things.

"Usa, I'm tired of searching for love, tired of trying to find someone to love me much as Mamoru loves you." Minako said as she stared into her friend's bright blue concerned eyes.

"That is no way to define love." Ami said wisely. "What Usagi-chan and Mamoru-san share is a special kind of love, that once in a lifetime soul mate love."

"It would be nice," Rei said softly as she thought about it, "but even you as a descendant of the goddess of love should know that is one impossibly high standard."

"That's just it. I shouldn't even be considered a descendant of the goddess of love if I can't even find love."

"Minako, Aphrodite wasn't known for her eternal love, she's known for inspiring love in others and for those romances that define us, the ones that we cannot escape." Makoto said suddenly. "You should know your patron goddess better."

"Let's go out tonight, maybe to that new idol's concert." Ami said trying to cheer up her blond friend.

"I don't feel like going out." Minako said as she suddenly got up and left the arcade leaving her stunned friends behind.
