Safe Haven

--

It was a day just like any other. Except it wasn't. It was… special, in a way. It was one of the first days we had spent together, alone. No wedding plans. No hyperactive Alice shoving magazines and pictures and swatches in my face every five seconds. Just us.

The Volvo had become a safe haven of sorts. No one could interrupt us while we were in there. His long fingers were rubbing idle patterns into my palm and the back of my pale hand. Occasionally stopping at my ring finger and sending a heart-melting smile my way, he would twist the old-fashioned ornament that sat there proudly, for once. I had just recently come to terms with my upcoming marriage. I felt like I belonged by his side, and no one else's. I would be forever his girl. And he was forever my guy. No one could take that away. No Volturi and definitely no trite humans.

He squeezed my hand gently and brought my hand to his full lips. I couldn't help but be pulled into the force of his tawny eyes. All thoughts left behind, he kissed the tip of each of my dainty fingers and then finally came to my ring and kissed it.

We had been driving in aimless circles for a while, when he stopped.

"Where are we going?" I questioned tentatively. Did he have something planned?

"Just thought we'd stop here for a bit," He replied as he exited the car and made

His way around, helping me out of the leather seat before I could even think about reaching for the seatbelt.

I finally took the time to observe my surroundings. We were at the park. It was the only park in Forks actually. The land was littered with orange and red leaves, and with the way the small shafts of light fell on them, they shimmered slightly. It was chilly so there were no children playing outside. I looked at the swing-set and the jungle gym that I was much too old to play in, but still looked very tempting. The rusty swings were swaying slightly in the breeze. I gasped in surprise.

"Oh, Edward," No words would force themselves out. My brain had officially stopped functioning.

"Come on," He cooed. He took my shivering hand and I followed without complaint. He stopped at the glider swing, took a seat in the back and patted the spot in front of him. "Join me?"

I sat down quickly, straddling the plastic bench and holding onto the bars in front of me. He folded his lean arms around my middle and buried his face in my neck. His frigid breath was coming evenly against my shoulder and I shivered. I felt him lean back, and I hurriedly turned to see what happened. He was making his way out of his coat. I couldn't help the way my eyes scanned his muscular abdomen. I turned, blushing at my thoughts and felt him place the heavy fabric around my shoulders.

"Thanks," He didn't reply, only shifted back into his former position.

We stayed like that for a long while, not talking, and the only movement from the two of us was the gentle rocking of the swing. He then broke the silence with his silky words.

"Have I told you how much I love you today?" He murmured, his voice muffled by my hair.

"Only about a dozen times," I giggled. Only Edward Cullen had the ability to make me giggle.

"Hmmm… Not enough. I think I should remind you again."

I was suddenly facing him.

My breaths came in quick gasps as the marble of his lips traced every line and contour of my throat. He made a beeline for the hollow beneath my ear. He suckled on the skin there, surely leaving a mark. His actions elicited a slight mewl in the back of my throat. My hands traveled their way into his thick, red-bronze hair and tugged slightly. "Edward,"

"Hmm?" His mouth was still preoccupied.

"Kiss me."
