Chapter 1-LoVe AnD eNvY oF tHe PoPuLaR

{Some people you can never please

You might as well just let them be

They mock everything not their own

From their imaginary throne

But I won't bow down,

even if the whole world thinks I'm crazy}

Plan casually bump into Natsu and have him fall in love with you just like in those comedy romance movies, which were by the way, utter horseshit. = FAIL

Lucy never really was a people person, she would much rather just seclude herself away from everyone from inside her bedroom and do something more productive; like watch TV. Because of her 'socially awkward' ways, every morning she came to school, instead of walking up to people and interacting with them she preferred to stay in the shadows and quietly maneuvered her way around everyone. Either she had mastered the skill of blending into the scenery so much that she was literally invisible, or the teen girls and boys just couldn't give a single shit about her. It was probably the latter.

Walking further into the school grounds she saw her best friend (and only friend for that matter) Levy.

"Lucy! Finally you're here!" The oddly hair coloured girl exclaims and the two begin to walk aimlessly around the school grounds, blowing off time until the eventual ring of the bell.

"So anything happen on the weekend?" Levy asked. Surprisingly (Because Lucy was pretty bad at keeping things a secret) Levy was the only one that knew about Lucy's super-duper, huge and massively amazing crush on the stud, heart stopper, perfectly sculpted and more than slightly stupid boy that is Natsu Dragneel.

And even more surprising, Levy had been completely understanding about the whole ordeal and had agreed to help Lucy get the boy of her dreams.

The two had never really done anything about Plan Get Natsu to Fall Head Over Heels for Lucy until recently. Though that had only been simple things such as accidentally meeting at Natsu's favourite store by total coincidence, or being at the movies while he just so happened to be there. It had to be something casual and something that would make Natsu initiation the first movie because dear God there was no way Lucy would be able to.

But last Friday was different. Three days ago Levy's brilliant plan was put into play, the same plan that made the blonde scream out in joy during school. She would never live that down.

.:Friday Afternoon:.

"Plueee."

"Pluuuuuuuuueeeeeeeeeeeeee."

"PLUE!"

At the yell of her voice a nervous and embarrassingly pathetic bark had her snapping her neck up to look her puppy. That was in a tree. Her puppy was stuck in a tree.

Lucy blinked her eyes then looked around the tree, looking for some way that the animal could have wound up on the branch, but found nothing.

"Is this even physically possible!? Dogs can't climb trees!"

She shook her head. Plue had ruined everything! It was 5:50 and she was prepared to accidentally bump into Natsu while he jogged past her house every afternoon at around 5:54, but now she had to rescue the sorry excuse for a dog that whimpered for her help. She climbed up the tree, all while thinking that she probably shouldn't be wearing a skirt, and shuffled onto the branch that Plue had got himself onto. "There ya' go." She grumbled and scooped Plue into her hands, hugging the trembling dog to her bosom.

As she began shuffling of the branch, it gave of a sickening crack and Lucy's stomach dropped.

This is why she didn't go outside and play like all the others kids when she was little.

Inside her house, the dominating grandfather clock ticked. 5:54. It was time.

Just like he did every afternoon, Natsu jogged past. She would have enjoyed the sight, but the idea of him seeing her in a tree make her stomach twist and turn uncomfortably. She let out a breath that she had been holding in when he jogged past but sucked it in again when he stopped, walked back a few steps and then looked up at her, his eyebrows all scrunched up adorably.

There was an awkward silence, with Lucy being embarrassed as hell and Natsu just being confused like anyone would.

"Are you okay?" He asked. An eyebrow rose and his lips curled up slightly.

Well at least someone was having fun.

She opened her mouth to say anything, anything at all, but Plue might've had her tongue because nothing came out. Instead she turned five different shades of reds and loosened her hold on the branch, which was more than likely a really, really, really, really, really bad idea.

And so she fell, Plue still clutched (more like crushed) to her bosom. But of course Natsu wouldn't let that happen, I mean he was the most popular guy at school, he couldn't be known as "The Guy That Let a School Girl and Her Puppy Die".

With the swiftness of a Disney prince, his arms curled around her and he pulled her towards his chest before she could hit the ground.

"You sure you're okay?"

She tried to give him an answer, but the only thing that came from her mouth was a choked up sound.

Much to her dismay, he put her down onto her own two feet. He looked down to the bundle of white fur bundled up against her chest and smiled. "Cute."

"U-uh…" Lucy mumbled. "Thanks?"

He grinned, "No problem." He began walking past and waved at the blonde. "Bye!"

Lucy shakily raised a hand and waved back, her heart pounding against her chest painfully.

.:Monday Morning:.

"I fell out a tree trying to get Plue and Natsu caught me and held me against his chest. The muscles Levy! The boy has muscles!"

"How good were these muscles?"

"Orgasmic."

"Wow, good adjective." Levy praised. "So did he give you his number?"

Lucy frowned and looked at her feet. "No."

Levy stopped in her tracks and clasped onto Lucy's shoulders. "This is still progress!" She exclaimed.

Lucy's eyes widened. "Progress? For what?"

The bluenette looked left then right, making sure that no one was listening.

As if someone would really care about what they talked about.

Levy grinned. "I have decided we will become popular!" She declared as if it would just magically happen now that she wanted to.

"And how do suppose that will happen?"

Levy stopped for a moment to think. "I haven't thought of that yet."

Lucy rolled her eyes and began to walk away. "Levy, I don't wanna break your dreams or anything, but it's just not gonna happen."

"Lu-chan!" Levy whined. "Why always so negative? You should take advice from the Biebs and never say never!"

"You just said Never, twice actually."

"See, always so negative!"

"Oh no," Lucy groaned, "It burns to look at them."

"What, who? I don't understand- Oh." Levy said when her eyes landed on the three goddesses of the school. "Did they get hotter over the weekend?"

Lucy glared at the three with undeniable rage. No one knows how the whole "goddess" thing started, but that's just how they're known now. Lisanna, Juvia and Erza, the three Goddesses. Each one had their own special personality and beauty that made them stand out from everyone else, and combined, they were unstoppable. "Wouldn't doubt it." She hissed.

Lisanna squealed, "Natsu!" She ran into the boys' arms and the two engaged in a hug.

"Why can't that be me?" Lucy sighed to herself.

"Why can't we be like them?" Levy sighed, though for the both to hear. "Hot bodies, hot boyfriends and popular. Triple threat"

"Because we don't have a figure like a pin-up doll, we don't know anything about make-up, we don't own stylish clothes and we can't even talk to them properly, let alone join their group. We'll be like them when pigs fly." Lucy said and puffed out her cheeks, hating the truth.

"Hey look, it's a flying pig." Levy said and pointed to the sky.

"Really where?" Lucy asked and looked up, though stopped shortly after. "I mean no there's not."

"Oh my God, Lucy look, look, no way!" Levy gasped and the blonde began to fret, getting scared for what Levy was talking about.

"What?! What!?"

Levy put her hands onto both of Lucy's cheeks and forced her to look, even though she had just said to look away. "Oh. My. God." Lucy gasped, her eyes wide and unblinking.

"When did that happen?" Levy pondered and took her hands away for Lucy's face.

"I have no reason to live on this world for! She stole the only thing I was born for!" Lucy shrieked, her arms moving in wild gestures.

"It's like they're trying to suck each other's face off."

"Why are we still watching!?" Lucy screeched moments later.

"Because it's like a car accident; it's disgusting, but it's hard to stop looking" Levy explained, still eyeing the two.

"This is far worse than any car accident!" Lucy cried and dragged Levy away.

"What are you going to do now?" Levy asked with a raised brow.

"What do you mean what am I going to do? There's nothing I can do! I was brought to this world to be with Natsu, and now suddenly him and Lisanna are dating! I don't understand! Why!? How!?

"So are you just going to forget about him?"

"No! I could never forget about my one true love!" Lucy exclaimed, the atmosphere around her suddenly changing drastically.

"Well you might as well, Natsu was bound to get a girlfriend one day, and since that girl is Lisanna..." Levy trailed off. "See this is why we need to become popular!" She said. "If you were popular, then maybe Natsu would want you instead of Lisanna! Since right now the only contact he's had with you is catching you when you fell out the tree trying to get your dog, he probably thinks you're some crazy dog lady that climbs trees!"

"That would be a good option, if we could become popular! How do you expect us to do that? It's not like we can just randomly sit with them, or even talk to them for that matter! It's a known fact, we can't talk to popular people, they'll say 'hey', and we'll end up saying something that no one can understand because we'll probably get all flushed and embarrassed!"

"Then how do you want to win Natsu? 'Cause if we don't become popular, then she'll be stuck with him forever and you can say bye-bye Natsu!"

Lucy sighed and ran her fingers through her blonde hair, not getting far it due to the knots.

"Soooo?" Levy continued. "We can't spend the rest of our lives in high school as losers. I want people to look at us and be so jealous that they can't even say anything."

"Fine." Lucy let out one final sigh before she nodded. "Let's become popular."

"Yes! That's the spirit!" Levy squealed and high-fived her friend.

"So how do we start?"

"I'll think about that tomorrow." Levy said and began to walk further into the school, knowing the bell would ring soon.

"You're telling me that you gave that big speech about being popular and you don't even have a plan!?"

"You know I heard this song once that inspired this brilliant plan, it's called 'Popular'" Levy said, completely ignoring Lucy.

Lucy sighed. "Really? How does it go?"

"'I will be popular, I will be popular!-' "

Lucy laughed. "You're so strange."

"You know I heard this other song once, it went like 'Cut my life into pieces, this is my last resort, suffocation, no breathing. Don't give a fuck if I cut my arm bleeding-' "

"I don't think you should be listening to that song Levy..."
