This was big. It was all over the TV and the newspapers. It was when that small glimmer of hope, in the darkness that was this city, was torn away from them, dragging the next best thing with it.

It was when Batman killed Harvey Dent.

Deep down in everyone's minds there was a multitude of questions, at the top of the list was 'What hope is there left now?'

For those who had yet to find out, the shocked silence, which came as a direct result of the disbelief that caused these questions, was the only thing that showed.

For one man though, the question was missing the 'why'.

'Why did he do it?' was replaced by 'Did he do it?'

The Batman's strong moral code, the difference between him and them, just thrown out the window? It didn't make sense, these things don't just happen.

So what did?

This question was one that needed an answer.

This puzzle needed to be solved.

The greatest riddle of them all.

This is my idea of a sequel to 'The Dark Knight' that's been nagging me for a long time now, probably since the idea of a sequel first wiggled its way into my head. Edward Nigma wouldn't be the main villain (just a 'very' obsessive guy who finds out about the huge cover-up, leaving clues about it around the city, labelled 'The Riddler' by Batman and Gordon.) but still a serious threat to Batman's plan. One that he would have to watch out for when clues appear that point to somebody figuring out the truth. Sorry, I don't have the confidence to write it in full.
