A/N: Written for the Digimon Flash Bingo, # 754 - character: Leomon.
Waiting to Reform
It began as almost nothing. Just like bits of data attracted to some force. Maybe it was like a magnet: the negatives attracted the positive. Or a vacuum that wasn't so particular.
But, at some point, the data collecting together started to become particular. It began to feel. Stretched, initially. Incomplete. And there was no understanding in what it felt. It simply did.
And then the understanding began. Pictures, at first. But they began to slowly connect, and when they did, emotions returned. It saw a girl that made him happy and sad and other things as well. It learnt them all, with time, as the puzzle continued to reform.
Its name was Leomon. Or it had been Leomon. The girl's name was Katou Juri and that yellow device she wore – that was a D-ark and it tied them together. It'd died protecting her.
No, it wasn't an "it" anymore. There was an identity. Leomon. And a superspecies. Digimon. Leomon was a digimon and Juri's partner. Was. Past tense.
Or…maybe the D-ark still tied them together. The other images flickered and changed but Leomon thought about the yellow D-ark and it remained. The screen grew bigger, until Leomon could reach out and touch a finger to it. Leomon did. And the screen rippled. Leomon's finger rippled too.
Not quite complete yet.
That was okay. Juri was on the other side. Leomon's purpose was on the other side.
Leomon was no longer nothing. He was something. Someone.
And it would only be a little longer before he was complete.
