Time's Lost

You'll never know how much I really love you
you'll never know how much I really care

The Monday of June 20th brought rain and wind, and the complaints of many of Hogwarts students. One, however, couldn't care less about the weather. Cho Chang had perched herself on a bench at the Ravenclaw table and watched as her boyfriend, Cedric Diggory, left the great hall. She lingered there a moment, debating whether to corner him and tell him what she felt she needed him, then rose up and dashed out the great swinging doors. She turned onto a passageway, and, spotting him a few yards away from her, called out:

"Cedric!" he turned and grinned at her, jogging back to where she was standing. She grabbed his hand and led him down an abandoned hallway. He looked confused, but she kept on walking until she found an alcove hidden out of the way of prying eyes. The bell rang just as they came to a stop and ducked into it. Cedric raised a brow.

"A Ravenclaw okay with being late to class?" he teased. She gave him a look.

Do you want to know a secret?
Do you promise not to tell?

"I need to tell you something." Cedric nodded, indicating that he was listening.

"Um..." She looked around, her mind reeling. Should she really tell him this? and if so, why now? She could always wait; she had plenty of time to tell him later. Stop it, Cho! Quit stalling and tell him? She glanced at him, he seemed puzzled and concerned.

Closer

She raised herself up on her tip-toes; he dwarfed her by nearly a foot, and took a deep breath. She placed a shaking hand on his cheek and looked into his eyes.

Let me whisper in your ear
the words you want to hear

"I-" she bit her lip. The bell rang again before she could say anything else. He pressed a kiss to her lips and the rushed out of the hall.

"What was it you wanted to tell me?" Cedric asked as they halted at the end of the corridor where their paths separated.

"I-It's nothing. I'll tell you later."

Cho flew down an empty corridor, trying to escape the title wave of emotion threatening to crash down on her. He's dead. A few tears slipped down her face before she ducked into an alcove and completely broke down. He's dead. I'm never going to see him again, ever. She raised her head from her arms and realized when she was. This was that alcove, the one she and Cedric had stood in on that grey Monday just a few days ago. Then it dawned on her. That was our last kiss. It was so fast, so sudden, and she never got to tell him...

Cho let out another strangled moan and buried her head in her knees, crying until she had no more tears left in her.

I'm in love with you
