The ghostly wizard – warrior ran along the roof tops, silent as the darkness around him. His destination in the distance, clear to his eyes, but no others. A large crystal castle with balconies and clear crystal pillars. Stone fountains ranged along the emerald grassy grounds graced with tall trees and beautiful flower gardens. But it was not guarded by the large stone walls like its ancestors of the ancient times. But its walls, its barriers, were more impenetrable than those walls that would, and had, crumbled over time. It seemed to float just above the busy metropolis on a silver cloud, more untouchable than ever. The dark warrior stopped about four blocks from it, and hid in the shadows. He checked to make sure that his aura was well hidden before going into a deep trance. In this trance he was resting, but never really asleep. He was hidden, but ready for any attack. He senses were alert, and his mind wandered. Three years- or was it four? It was hard to remember how long it had been since they had gone underground. There had been traitors, foxes within the hen house, and they had to hide more than anything. He never knew exactly how long it had been, the only way he was able to keep track of that time was by the growing ache in his chest, an ache that never seemed to leave no matter what he did. Their last conversation had been hurried and only a few sentences long since he had only a seconds notice. She had wanted to come, to help. But he told her no. The excuses he gave her was that she needed to stay with he own family and that she wouldn't be able to come across the ocean. But really he had been afraid that she would get hurt. Syaoran a voice rang in his head, he winced as he heard it, this is no time to be daydreaming. If we loose this chance it could mean the destruction of the Li Clan. Li Syaoran had never learned how to speak through his mind like she did. Every time he asked her to teach him she would say that he wasn't ready yet. I'm sorry mother, he thought, knowing that she could hear it, i will stay more focused now. She did not answer, but he knew that she had heard. He waited a bit longer. Then the signal came, the ring on his right finger growing intensely hot. He left his hiding place and ran towards the castle. It all happened so quickly. He sensed rather than saw the four talismans flying through the air. They connected to the barrier and clung on. Lightning formed where they touched the barrier, like long thin fingers trying to rip it off. But slowly the lightning grew weaker as the talismans grew warmer, absorbing the power it used. Then the talismans burst into flame and fell off in ashes. The barrier was still there or else Syaoran's cousins inside would have been running around in a panic. Or they would have escaped. Syaoran knew that they couldn't let them go, they had to be caught or killed, or else the fire would spread. As soon as the ashes started to fall Syaoran jumped up into the air. He was level with the castle, he watched the green grounds approach him. But he didn't waste all of that energy just not to look at it. Drawing the Li clan sword he focused his power into it. This time he wasn't casting a spell, he just needed power and he had it. The blade began to glow bright blue and he swung at the barrier. It shattered. Almost done, he thought as he descended to the beautiful grounds. And then i will keep my promise, my Sakura, i will see you again. And i will never leave you.
