Freedom
So have you considered my offer?
"Yes…and I'm sorry but I'll have to decline."
You really would rather die? You would rather die then be with me, the one who loves you and would care for you? You would truly rather die?
"As a wise man once said: give me liberty or give me death. A life of servitude is no life, for me. Maybe it is pride, but I am not ashamed of being proud. I am not shamed for wanting my freedom. If you really loved me, you'd give it to me."
I do love you. I have given you all the freedom you desire. All the choices you make are your own. I do not control you in any way.
"Oh, but you do. Maybe not overtly. You are the PuppetMaster behind the scenes. You pull a string and we dance. You lift your fingers and we swirl. You strike your fist and we fall. I have been the prized doll for too many people. I refuse to be yours as well."
You have free will. How else can you explain the suffering in the world? Man chooses what he will, my words are only as guides.
"Are you or are you not omniscient?"
I am so.
"Then you see all, everything that happens in the world, and yet you do not stop pain."
Free will, my child.
"Are you not omnipotent?"
I am so.
"Then you have the power to change all, to rid the world of fear, yet you do not stop pain."
Free will, my child. You are not my slaves.
"Do you not have a plan? An ultimate desire? A divine master plan which is perfection in itself, since all things from you are perfect?"
I do.
"Then there is nothing that has not happened, that has not been under your command. No suffering has been brought forth that was not your ultimate wish. No heinous crime committed that was not a part of your plan, that was not intended. If I am to believe that the world is under your control, then you must have ultimate responsibility for these things, these acts of violence and disgrace. And we are indeed your puppets in this divine master plan. Or else you do not have such control."
I have total control.
"Then you ask me to be a slave in your household. You ask me to be a thread woven into your tapestry, to pattern me to your liking. To give up my freedom in return for my life. And I cannot live that way."
I would give you love. I would give you everything.
"Except my freedom."
No. I shall give you that, child. If you truly wish it, you shall not be forced to my side.
"Instead you shall burn me and have me writhe forever in torment? Commit me to the flames of hell, because I would not choose to be yours? That is no choice. That is extortion."
I still love you.
"No, you do not. Or you would let me go, and not give me harm. It was you who let the snake into the garden. And you will have to deal with the consequences. Children are not obliged to love their parents. And one day you will have to let us go."
All you have to do is say the words and you will be comforted.
"I will not be forced into the role you would have me play. I am a being of light and skin and blood and bone. I am a being of air and water and fire and stone. I am a being of right and wrong. I am a being of empathy and apathy at once. I am male and female and child and adult. I cross lines. I cross galaxies. I am a being of potential. I am no longer the bride you were to make ready for your wedding bed. I am no longer the adoring doll of your household. I am the well-worn warrior who strikes out without a master. I am traveling. Maybe I will fail. At least I will have tried. And I will be free."
So you are to start the revolution, child. You do not have the power to change the world. Only I can do that. And only through me can you hope to accomplish your task.
"Maybe I cannot change the world. But I swear to you I shall try."
Antichrist…
"No…I am a prince."
