EULOGY FOR A FORGOTTEN DAUGHTER
They had been shocked when they received the news about Lauren Singers death.
The circumstances about her death were a mystery like her whole life had been one. Had they known anything about her life? No.
She had never told much about herself, on second thought, she never even spoke about her family or her life in general.
They had been surprised hearing how different the person Lauren Singer and the Lieutenant Singer had been.
At JAG she had nicknames like icequeen, bulldog or Lieutenant witch.
But her family and very close friends had seen a different side of her. She had been the godmother of her best friend's daughter, went to church every possible sunday, enjoyed Jazzmusic and american literature.
They attended her funeral for formal reason. She had been a colleague, a fellow officer, they had to be there even when they hadn't wanted to back that day.
Now that they had found out so much about the real Lauren Singer they regretted not trying to get to know her when she had still been alive.
They never gave her a chance.
They never knew the person but she had been a colleague, a fellow officer, what more had there been to know? She had deserved more than the final respect they had paid her. But there was not much they could do now.
Harriet had found out where her family had buried her.
Now they were on the cemetery - the Admiral, the Roberts, Harm and Tiner. A freshly covered grave marked Lauren Singer's grave next to her mother's.
We never knew her and we never gave her a chance. We never even tried. We underestimated Lauren Singer. Her death should be warning to think and care about each other. Someone once said we are like a family at JAG. If this person was right, Lauren Singer was the forgotten daughter." Admiral Chegwidden said.
THE END
