It was ridiculous, really... Who in their right mind would voluntarily lug around so many books... Lailah seriously didn't understand the attraction to getting a sore back, a tension headache, and a achey shoulders, and all to impress someone with the name of your high school when it came to applying for a job.

When she saw the pile of books her new school was going to make her carry around, she vowed to make them pay any way she could -without technically breaking the rules that is. So when her and Lorelai went school shopping for stationary, and a school bag, the teen had opted to choose her own bag, instead of getting the official Chilton backpack they had been encouraged to purchase.

As they roamed the mall in Hartford, Lailah was searching the the most eclectic bag she could find while Lorelai was hunting for practicallity. They had looked in every single store, and were about to give up when Lailah spotted a sign near the exit, pointing to the right and informing shoppers of the new comic book store, 'Comic Comic's', that was opening that day.

Lailah let out an excited squeal and wrenched Lorelai in the direction of the new store, tearing off down the sidewalk when the colourful storefront was in view. As they entered, Lailah simply stood with her mouth agape and spun around, taking in her surroundings. "Lailah, don't just run off." Lorelai chastised when she stepped through the chimming doorway. The teen just continued to stand with her mouth opened. And then she saw it, the backpack of the gods! It was jammed on the wall, amongs a couple of others.

They were all shells...

There was Yoshi's shell, the shell of that mean, spikey thing from Mario -which she could never remember the name of, and a Ninja Turtle's shell with a collection of the masks included. "I want that one." Lailah half demanded, and half asked Lorelai as she pointed to the green, shiney shell with the others.

"Really?" Lorelai had asked, both exasperated and confused. "Is that even allowed?" She asked the teen as she stepped up to the display and fingered the strap. On the upside, they looked like they were good quality.

Lailah gaped her mouth like a fish at Lorelai, spinning on her heels and acting protective towards the bag. "Yes it's allowed... The rules just say that it needs to hold my books. Pleeeaaassseeee..." She begged, putting on the puppy eyes and pouting out her bottom lip for effect.

Lorelai blew out a breath and waved her hands towards the bag. "Fine, go get someone to get it down." She conceded, giving a smile when Lailah squealed with joy and bounded away to find an employee.

Lailah started school later that week and she was the talk of the place, with her tight white shirt, shorter skirt, eclectic backpack, and conroversial, yet still TECHNICALLY legal, tights with patterns on them.

Yep, she was making them pay for her sore back, which ended up making her chest pop even more, tension headaches, which ended up getting her out of numerous classes, and her achey shoulders, which got her some incredible massages from hot guys. So all-in-all, it wasn't too bad... That's not to say that Lorelai and Luke were too happy with her way of making the school unhappy. Byt she'd deal with that later.
