I don't own X-Men.

He ran under the bridge, and sat down to check out what he had gathered on todays pick-pocketing trip.

Money, a watch, several bits of pocket lint, some dog biscuits (who was carrying those?)

and... A pocket knife. The money helped alot. "One hundred fifty dollars... Not bad..." He muttered, pocketing the money.

He looked at the watch wondering if he could scrap it for some quick cash, but then realized it worked. He put it on. Perfect fit. The lint wasn't worth crap, so he pushed that aside, and then turned to the pocket knife.

He opened the knife, and looked at the blade. Nice and sharp... He switched hands with it.

He had considered suicide before, but was it worth it? He hated himself for all that he was but was it REALLY worth it?

Did he really want to do this? He had admitted to himself that his life sucked long ago, but to end it with not so much as a goodbye?

But then, no one cared anyway. Wanda, as much as he hated to admit it, hated him almost as much as she hated her father.

Pietro didn't care. He was too busy going here and there an running at the speed of light. Lance would appriciate his being gone because that's one less smell he'd have to deal with.

Freddy MIGHT miss him, but does one even count?

He decided then. He was going to do it. He held the knife up and brought it down hard on his arm.

He let out a girlish scream, but went to do it again, when a voice called out. "STOP!" It sounded familiar, and made him drop the knife.

He looked up to see none other than Tabitha Smith standing there at the entrance to the tunnel.

"Todd, you're bleeding..." She said sitting down beside him, taking his arm. She splashed some of the cool river water on it to wash some of the blood away.

He looked at her. Why was she doing this? If he wanted to end his life WHY did she care at all?

Then it hit him. She CARED. At least, it looked like she cared. And she had called him Todd...

Not one of those stupid nicknames. "Tabitha...?" He said, but that was all he could get out. He had lost alot of blood.

"You idiot! Why did you do that?!?! Did you even give a thought to anyone else's feelings? Did you consider MY feelings?"

She had yelled it, but she was crying at the same time. She had never seemed to care before. Why did she now? The truth was, he HADN'T considered Tabitha. His face was wet. From the river? Or was he...? He was crying!

Tabitha reached out and wiped a tear from his cheek.

"Look, we should at least get you somewhere where you can get a bandage, or something. Just... Don't do that again..."

She gave him a hurt look.

Todd looked back at her. "Yo, Tabitha? How did you know I was here?

What I was doing? Yo." He asked, tears still in his eyes.

"I saw you walking through the crowd, and I followed you to see where you were going.

Well, I saw you only went here and assumed you were catching bugs, so I turned to leave, but I heard you scream..."

She said trailing off.

"But... Why stop me? Why follow me yo?" He asked her.

She wiped a tear from her eye, and looked at him again, and said simply...

"Because I care."

A/N: I know it was probably extremely out of character, but I just was inspired with a bolt from the blue, ya know? Anyway, please review!
