Saturdays were always Aradia's favorite day of the week. She loved them not because it meant she had no classes, or she could sleep late, but because it usually meant spending the entire day at Sollux's small apartment. They would watch movies or play video games, and sometimes just sit and talk for hours. The two had known each other since the third grade, and they were comfortable talking about almost anything. As of now they would call each other best friends, but sometimes Aradia longed for more than that. She thought that maybe Sollux did too, but it was hard to tell, and she wasn't going to push it. God only knows how devastated she would be if she ruined what she had with Sollux.

This Saturday was no different than the rest. Aradia rolled onto her side and glanced at the clock through sleep-blurred eyes. 8:45. She pushed the covers off of her as she sat up, stretching and yawning. The bed on the other side of the room was empty and unmade. Her roommate, Feferi, was always an early riser, and was probably already out with friends. Aradia stood, the carpet scrunching between her toes, and headed to the bathroom to shower.

After her morning rituals Aradia slipped into her favorite pair of jeans and dug a faded AC/DC shirt (a 'tasteful' gift from Sollux) from her dresser. Her phone buzzed on the dresser surface, and she grinned. 1 new message from Sollux.

Mario Kart championship, loser buys lunch?

Her smile widened and she tapped out a quick affirmative before pocketing the phone, as well as some cash. As if she could beat Sollux at Mario Kart.

Aradia didn't even knock before entering, knowing Sollux would have left the door unlocked for her. He was already playing, on the floor with his back against the couch, legs crossed. She sunk down beside him and joked, "Glad you invited me over so I could watch you play by yourself."

Sollux paused the game and ran a hand through his messy dark hair. "You're right," he teased back, "I should be letting you practice if anything."

"It's on." Aradia snatched up the other controller which was on the floor next to Sollux. The tournament that followed was beyond confusing for Aradia. Sollux drove off the edges of the road and ran over banana peels an uncharacteristic amount of times.

In the end, when the final ranking showed Aradia in second place and Sollux in eighth, all he had to say was, "Oh. Damn. That's a shame."

"What the hell was that?" Aradia asked, giving his shoulder a playful shove.

"I lost." He was grinning.

"No kidding."

"We had a bet. Guess I have to buy you lunch now." Sollux's grin was still impossibly wide.

"In a surprising turn of events."

"There's not really much to do here, maybe we could go see a movie or something too," he continued.

"Sure, sounds fun," Aradia agreed.

"Okay, but, I was thinking maybe…I mean, if you want, it could be like, a sort of…date…maybe." The color was rising in his cheeks.

Aradia blushed slightly as well. "Yeah, I'd love that."

Relieved, Sollux took her hand that was closest to him and leaned in, placing a quick, soft kiss on her lips. He left an arm wrapped around her shoulder as he sat back against the couch.

"Cool," he lauged.
