Small droplets of rain raced onto Arthur's hat. He sighed, wondering why he was picked to do this case. It was for beginning cops. There was a vandalization problem here at a small, local elementary school and his boss gave him the job to find out who did it. Some git decided to ruin the hallways, along with the bathrooms, with spray paint. Arthur rolled his eyes as he went stepped inside the school. He took out his notebook and a pen to take notes. Just as he did that he saw a small figure in the corner of his eyes. He turned around to see what it was, and saw small girl, about 6 years old. The child seemed to be studying his uniform very carefully.

"Excuse me," came a small voice from the girl

Arthur was a little startled by the voice. "Yes?"

"You're a cop, right?"

Arthur smiled, "Why, yes, yes I am."

The girl's reaction seemed to change. She looked very relieved.

"and i'm suppose to come to you whenever I need help, right?"

Arthur, still smiling, said, "Of course."

"W-well. Can you tie my shoe, please." The girl said pointing at her untied shoelace.

Arthur chuckle, amused by the little girl, "Of course." He bend down and tied her shoe very carfully, making sure she saw him tie, so she can learn. When he was done he stood up, fixed his officef hat, and said "All done."

"Thank you, Mr. Officer." the girls said while looking down at her tied shoes and wiggling that same foot.

Arthur smiled, again being amused, "Mr. Kirkland," Arthur said, telling her his name.

"Mr. Kirkland," she corrected herself and the bell rang. "Thank you," said the girl while running off.

'That just made my day,' Arthur thought while smiling.
