-Story start-
Lexi remembered that day so vividly
Blades clashing against one another and all she could do was watch.
'Couldn't it have been any different? Why couldn't they just get along?'
She wondered as frowned this was hard for her to bare, Dante became like a brother to her she was with him through thick and thin meeting him when he was 13 and had tried to dye his hair black though he was only nice to her back then. Vergil…he was everything to her, though he seemed cold he was sweet and tried to keep her happy but his craving for power grew and even though they broke up. She still loved him.
She wanted to yell to make them stop, she wanted to go home to the Devil may cry store and just sit with them both, just be normal. Just once couldn't they be a family? No it wasn't that simple it never was. Dante fought to protect humans, Vergil fought to destroy and become stronger, they were so different for identical twins.
Crimson red was all she could see as Dante was stabbed.
"Dante no!"
She yelled out as Vergil walked over to his brother on the floor, it was never wise to get in-between them but Lexi was always different. She dove and placed her arms over Dante's chest as Vergil went to go for another blow but he stopped as he saw her, tears streamed down her face though were hidden through the rain.
"Please…Vergil stop…Let's just leave and go back how we used to be…I don't want you hurt, nor Dante. Please.."
She begged as she whimpered as Vergil sheathed his yamato, a small frown formed on his perfect soft lips, the lips she adored and enjoyed kissing.
"I can't."
His voice was monotone, she got up as she rushed to Vergil and grabbed his vest, clenching it as she cried.
"Why not?"
She yelled, as she buried her face into his strong chest. His arm wrapping around her waist as she had a fairly small waist, he pulled her closer as a sigh escape past his lips. As much as he hated his human emotions, he hated to see Lexi cry though they didn't work out truth was he still loved her. He couldn't tell her she knew what he lost and he needed the power to protect her, he wanted to make sure he wouldn't lose something else more precious to him.
"I want that power, Lexi."
Shaking her head she moved her head to look up, her brown eyes meeting his azure ones.
"You don't need power, you are strong enough! Please Vergil, I love you!"
Her body shook from the cold rain and sadness she felt, Vergil gave her a small smile though hidden was the sadness.
"I love you too, Lexi."
He brought his right hand up to her cheek and began to caress her cheek.
"Then why?"
Her voice was shaking; cracking a bit as the rain never seemed to stop.
"For you."
Was all he said before he placed his lips against Lexi's, it was small yet it held all the hidden emotions he felt for her, and everything they felt for each other. Breaking apart when needing air her tears had stopped but she didn't stop clenching to his vest. Her head hung low as she spoke softly.
"Promise…Promise you will come back to me and you won't leave me."
He was taken back by her words but smiled as he held her, leaning down enough to whisper in her ear.
"I promise."
She nodded before letting him go hesitantly, placing one last kiss onto her forehead Vergil gave her a smile as he slicked his hair back and they silently said goodbye to one another. As he disappeared she looked over at Dante who began to sit up holding his shoulder as it healed. Lexi looked at him through sadden eyes as he stood up and gave her a hug, whispering.
"Don't worry he promised, right?"
-The end-
