Well here it is finally, the first chapter of the re-write of Light and Darkness, you might notice that whilst it is significantly longer than the original chapter the storyline is basically the same. It will probably remain that way until we reach Commorragh then I am planning to diverge from the original plot and focus more on the nature of the Eldar rather than the differences between the Eldar and Dark Eldar.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy this new version of the story, please let me know what you thing. Is it better, Worse or just different.

The gentle patter of footsteps echoed through the long teal coloured hallway, bouncing between the arches of Wraithbone. Iahina's feet softly hit the cool blue marble like surface of the floor beneath her, the reflective surface showing an almost complete reflection of her graceful form. Her face covered by the long pointed helmet of her armour, its deep blue colour contrasting the bright yellow cloak that enraptured her entire body, hiding the pale blue wraithbone plates that made up the rest of her armour.

Her foot slipped slightly as she turned into another of the Craftworlds massive hallways, causing her to halt for a second as she regained her footing. Yet a second was all that was needed. From behind her she saw them coming, like a large green tide smashing through the corridors, causing damage with every step. The Orks large forms slowed them down as they ran but a few were still fast enough to see her standing there. Several loud bangs corrupted the sounds in the corridors as the Orks fired their primitive weapons at her, each shell missing and impacting on the walls. The damage caused by the weapons would have been devastating had they hit her, yet Orks are not known for their accuracy.

As the group of Ork boyz approached her position the Warlock regained her footing and poised herself for the inevitable conflict. With a almost melodic chime she drew her Witch Blade from its place on her belt, holding it up in place between herself and the Orks. The Orks reacted by roaring, brandishing their crudely designed weapons above their heads as they charged. As they closed on her position more stray shots whizzed past her head, the very floor began to shake as the combined weight of the charging horde crashed down upon it. Slowly she shifted into a defensive position, her sword held high above her shoulder whilst her other hand was held out in front of her, open. She was now ready.

Bolts of lightning erupted from her fingertips and like angered vines, they wrapped themselves around the first wave of Orks. The white veins pulsated as her mind carefully drew power from the warp and bathed the Orks within it. Her nose was hit with the vague hint of burning flesh as the first oversize green giant fell to the ground its eyes dead. Never the less, the other Orks kept on coming, still roaring at the top of their lungs they pushed through the painful field of pure energy in the hope that they would reach her. She felt a smirk creep its way on to her face, hidden by her helmet. That was exactly what she wanted.

There was a sudden rush of wind as the Warlock made her move. A single leap, followed by a single strike and another Ork fell dead, its head missing from the massive shoulders that flanked its muscular neck. With speed that seemed almost impossible for something of their size, the remaining Orks turned on the small Warlock, who landed in the center of their current formation. The first choppa baned down on her, yet she simply stepped out of its way. She retaliated, her blade slicing through the arm of the Ork who had struck out at her though it was not deep the Ork still roared out in pain.

The fight quickly became a game of cat and mouse, Iahina was faster than the Orks but she lacked the physical strength to deal massive amounts of damage from her limited positions of attack. Finally, there was a clash, as one of the Ork choppa's made contact with the Witch Blade. She was thrown backwards towards another Ork by the force of the blow, yet it was not enough to shake her balance. Instead, she quickly pirouetted bringing the speeding blade up and forcing it through the neck of her new opponent. There was a squelching sound as the Ork fell and the blade slide out of the wound. Three down, but she had no time to react. It was almost immediately that she had to move out of the way of another oncoming choppa. Yet thanks to the recently deceased Ork a space had opened in the circle that had formed around her, allowing for a quick exit. With a single leap, she launched herself down the corridor and started to run. It might have been three kills to her, but there was no sense in fighting the Orks in a war of endurance, they would inevitably win and more would surely arrive any moment.

It took the Orks a few moments to figure out what had just happened, but they were quickly back on her heels. The heavy stomps contrasting her soft glances as they both ran through the corridor, heading towards the rear of the Craftworld. With the grace and speed that had been granted to her people Iahina changed from corridor to corridor in the hope of losing her pursuers.

In the distance she could hear the raging bangs of Ork fired being matched by the soft whisper of shuriken weaponry, the clash of metal on metal as her people clashed with the green horde in combat. Every now and again there was a crashing sound that shock the entire Craftworld as another of the Ork ships impacted, losing more and more Orks into her home. Yet still she ran, racing her way through the corridors, even as she could feel her breathing becoming heavier and heavier. Her chest was beginning to strain under the pressure of the occasional bout of combat combined with the constant running. Once more she felt the shaking of the ground as the Orks who were still perusing her grow nearer.

Finally she reached the corridor she had been aiming for, even though she knew these corridors it had taken her almost three times longer than expected. Many of the well-used corridors had been blocked by debris or Orks. None of that mattered now; she had reached the Webway gate. She could not get help for her people.

Silently she slipped into the room that contained the massive Wraithbone construct. The arch of the gate was one of the oldest parts of the Craftworld, the archaic design represented this. The arch looked more like something or tyranid construction, its organic shape and structure of the pale wearing Wraithbone contrasting the squared and artificial looking gates that were a common sight in many places of the galaxy. Her eyes were drawn to the glowing Rune that ran up the side of gateway, gently she caressed the Rune of the burning shrine of Asuryan. It was the symbol of Iyanden, her home. Here it sat side by side with the Runes of the other Craftworlds as it was on all of the originals. A permanent reminder that despite their differences they are all Eldar.

"Ere she is boyz!" A voice ripped Iahina from her thoughts. Her eyes were drawn to the entrance of the Webway room.

There standing in the entrance was a massive Ork Nob, surrounded by an entire horde of boyz. Iahina once again assumed her defensive stance, her hand raised in front of her ready to unleash the power of the warp on any Ork who dared to close the gap between them.

"Come to seek you death Ork." Iahina shouted over to the Nob who seemed to be using his boyz as a shield between the two of them. "Scared of what fate awaits you?"

"I ain'ts scared oh nothing, ya puny little git." The large Ork started to push aside the smaller of his race. "This one's mine Boyz."

The Nob charged her, not caring about the sudden envelope of lightning that caressed its flesh as it charged. As soon as it was within range it struck, the massive metal axe came crashing down on the pale blue marble floor where Iahina had been standing only mere moments ago. However with this new foe there was no time for the Eldar Warlock to retaliate, no sooner had she placed her feet once more on the polished surface was the axe on its way to collied with her small form once again. Its speed was unlike anything Iahina had ever seen in an Ork, combined with the power behind its massive weapon she was doing everything she could to simply dance around his attacks.

"Stand still ya git!" The Ork roared at her as she once more moved out of the way of his oversized axe.

As he did she quickly turned, driving her blade deep into his chest. Thanks to the opening created by the Orks own impatience she had managed to land a critical blow.

"Meet the fate you have brought on many foul beast." She cried out, charging her warp enegy through the very blade that was embeded in the Orks chest.

The Ork let out a massive roar of pain, she could feel it. It was so close that its surface thoughts could not be hidden from her mind, the pain, anger and worst of all hatred it felt was almost overpowering. Too late she realised that the blow she had struck would not be enough to fell her foe. She barely had time to bring her arms up in a defensive posture as the Orks massive fist collided with her. Such was the power behind the massive Ork she was thrown clean across the massive Webway chamber.

She looked up at the Ork who was now closing in on her. Try as she might she could not stand, the impact with the wraithbone wall had winded her, and it was possible that it had down even further damage that she was currently unaware off. The Ork on the other hand seemed to smile as it moved towards her, seemingly taking an almost un-Ork like pleasure in watching her struggle. And yet it appeared to be in almost no pain, depspite her whitch blade sticking out of its chest.

As soon as it reached her it reached out and wrapped its massive fist around her torso, catching her arms as well, before lifting her up to his height. Being face to face with the Ork was not a sight that Iahina would ever want to relive, the green skin that held what looked like years worth of dirt contained under the wrinkles that lined the Orks face and the massive yellow teeth that whilst many of them were broken and damaged still looked just as dangerous as though they were brand new.

"Tha' all yez gotz!" The Ork roared at her, laughing as it did. "Ye will hav' to do better than that tae kill me!"

With its second hand, after quickly dropping the axe that it had still been holding on to, it reached up and almost gently grasped her helmet with its fingers and pulled it off. With the helmet gone Iahina's face was bare, her flawless pale skin exposed to the stale air of the Craftworld.

"Even yer face looks twiggy." The Ork laughed. "Yer soft twiggy, but yer head will look gud on ma pole."

Iahina looked at the ork, her bright blue eyes trying to burn a hole in the greenskin with nothing more than willpower. Yet it was hopeless, she was too weak from the events of the day. She had failed her Mistress, and if she was fated to return to the infinity circuit this day then she would not deny it any longer, it was the ultimate fate of all her kin after all.

"If you are to kill me Ork, be quick with it." Iahina managed to say, still retaining the arrogance of her people despite her curent weaken state. "I grow weary of your unintelligible rambling."

The Ork slammed her into the wall once again this time with the full force of his fist, such was the shock and pain that it was enough to break her usual neutral face causing her eyes to widen in pain. She could feel the damage that had been done, her body could not take much more.

"I'm gonna enjoy t'is twiggy! I am-" The Ork was suddenly interrupted by a call from behind him.

"Boss!" Once of the boyz called, causing the Nob to turn.

Once he did Iahina could feel the surprise and fear that suddenly surfaced within his mind, she could not see past his head. Yet should could see that the Webway gate was active and that something was coming.

Within seconds she heard the roars of Orks, the clashing of metal and the slicing of flesh and bone. With little warning the Ork who had been holding her in his fist dropped her and picked up his weapon, obviously about to join the battle against the new enemy. However he never got the chance, as soon as his hand touched his discarded weapons he came to a halt. What happened next seemed to be almost slow motion. The Orks head seemed to slide off his body, no longer attached whilst the rest of him slumped in the opposite direction.

There standing where the Ork had been was a tall figure, dressed in a serrated dark blue plate armour. The armour itself seemed tight fitting and seemed to scream danger, The gauntlets of her saviour were wrapped around two massive curved blades, and the armour had spikes protruding from it in several places. It also had two wing like structures protruding from its back, one behind each pauldron. Yet it was the helmet that attracted Iahina's attention. Long and narrow like that of the eldar, yet it seemed to have a vent area at covering the mouth area, and four horns that were sweeping backwards. The two main horns were almost the length of the helmet, whilst the smaller ones sat underneath the larger ones only half their length. Then she was drawn to the eyes, piercing red eyes that seemed to be almost locked on her. For a brief moment she felt something from her would be rescuer as it examined her, lust. It was brief lasting less than a second, but it was the most powerful emotion she had ever felt since her journey began on the path of the Seer.

Without a word the armoured figure turned from her and seemed to walk back towards the battle that was raging behind him. Iahina finally managed to get a clear view of what was occurring. There were others dressed much like her rescuer though maybe not as elegant or declaratively, each of them seemed to wield a weapon that was sounded like a shuriken catapult wielded by the Guardians of the Eldar, yet it was clear by the way that they were ripping through the tough hides of the Ork boyz that they were not Eldar weapons.

It did not take them long to clear the room, and soon they started to push out into the Craftworld itself, cleansing it of Greenskins as they moved. Within minutes Iahina was alone once more, just the corpse's of the dead Ork's for company.
