There is a small Asari child wandering in the dark. The little explorer is looking as far up
and wide as her brilliant emerald eyes can through a visor that is much too large—at the
night sky and its numerous stars—because you see, this little explorer has come
prepared for her backyard expedition! An oversized Alliance Navy helmet with a large,
well faded crimson stripe jostles left and right as the miniature astronomer strides
through the well manicured grass of the backyard. Her eyes wide and mouth in awe,
she had just begun to catch a glimpse of the constellation that looked like a spoon that
Papa had taught her.
Caught off guard, the young Asari found herself shifted off from the ground, lifted to a
terrifying height by two powerful arms. She let out a scream and attempted to wiggle out of
the stranger's grasp mid air, until she recognized a large and faded scar on one of the
arms. As she realized who it was that had picked her up, the tiny explorers cheeks
turned blushing violet. The child grumbled in frustration "Papa!..." almost as if on cue,
the strong grasp turned into a familiar hug. Face to face, came the warm but firm voice
of her father. "And what are you doing out here Little One?." The child answered
quickly. "Exploring." Her father smiled as she just as quickly asked her second question.
"And what were you hoping to see?" The child answered "the stars papa! I wanted to
see them like you do." The human began to smile at her astute little explorer. "Did you
see anything good?" The child began to smile large and enthusiastically nod her little
head. "I saw a constellation!" "And which one was that?" The little asari giggled before
answering "the one named after mama." The humans eyebrow rose in curiosity
wondering what her daughter could possibly mean. "The little spoon!" As she said this
her fathers eyes got very big and her cheeks became as red as her hair and then father
and daughter both laughed. "I hear you call mama that sometimes." She smugly told her
father. Her father smiled at her again before ruffling her little head and kissing her forehead before replying. "Let's get you to bed Little Blue."
