Silence
Vergil sat on the couch quietly reading his book. His twin brother sat on the couch opposite of him staring at him with wide eyes. His brother was not even doing anything. Dante was just seated crossed legged on the couch with a fixated stare right at his brother. Vergil could feel his brother's piercing stare that was digging down to his very core. Dante would occasionally tilt his head and look away for a bit but then he would immediately go right back at staring.
Vergil lowered his book and looked his younger twin right in the eyes. This time Dante looked away and lowered his gaze down at the ground.
"Dante, I know something is bothering you…" Vergil began but stopped speaking as his twin got up to leave. Vergil frowned and grabbed his brother's wrist and held it tightly in his grip.
The older twin attempted so many times to speak to his brother after the betrayal he inflicted on him. And the many times he tried his twin would immediately get up to leave. Vergil let his twin leave those times but this time it was going to be different. He was not going to let Dante walk away. This time Vergil was going to get words and sounds out of his brother's mouth even if they were the words "I hate you" and the sounds of crying.
Dante struggled to free his wrist but he knew Vergil wasn't going to let go. The younger twin then started to panic; fearing the confrontation that was most likely to happen. Vergil's impatience kicked in and he pinned his brother against the wall.
"Dante calm down," Vergil said as Dante looked away from his brother's eyes. "Will you at least say something? I haven't heard your voice for so long."
Dante frowned and kept his mouth glued shut. Vergil looked down at the ground as his bangs covered his eyes.
"How long are you planning on giving me the silent treatment brother?" Vergil asked with a smile as he pressed his lips against his brother's neck.
Dante gasped as his eyes grew wide. Vergil smirked as his lips trailed up leaving small butterfly kisses along Dante's collar bone all the way to Dante's red cheeks. But Dante still wasn't uttering a word.
"I guess I have to try a little harder," Vergil said as Dante started to struggle. "Calm down little brother. You're safe in my hands."
Vergil grabbed his brother's jaw and looked his brother in the eyes. Dante stared right back with an almost scared expression. Vergil tilted his brother's head down and placed a soft, gentle kiss on his brother's forehead.
"V…Vergil," Dante said as tears came streaming down the younger twin's face.
"I love you, Dante," Vergil said.
"You won't ever leave me again?" Dante said with a trembling voice.
"Never," Vergil said. "I'll stay right by your side for eternity if you want me to."
"I love you, too," Dante said as Vergil laughed softly and pressed his lips against Dante's.
