With the exams finally over, Hermione suggested to Ron that they go to visit Hagrid again; it had been too long.
So they headed up towards the Gryffindor Common Room to see where Harry was, only to find him sitting on the stairs with his arm around a crying Pansy Parkinson. When she glimpsed Hermione and Ron she squealed and ran away.
Questioning Harry on the incident, as they walked down to the gamekeeper's hut, Ron asked why she didn't go to Draco if she was upset.
"She was upset about Draco," Harry stated. "She reckons he's cheating on her with someone.
"Yes, but why did she seek comfort from you?" Queried the up-until-that-moment-silent Hermione. "She has loads of friends, and it's no secret she doesn't like any of us. It just doesn't make any sense!"
"I am close to… the culprit," said Harry matter-of-factly. "She wants to know if her hunch is true."
The foreboding tone in his voice, the look of slight sadness and feeling of betrayal on his face, told them to shut up. They exchanged a nervous glance.
When they reached Hagrid's cabin they heard the weirdest of noises coming from within: a happy sort of groaning. Ron knocked on the door, prompting the half-giant to whisper "go- go!"
And with a horrible gut-wrenching feeling, Harry knew it.
This was confirmation of Pansy Parkinson's worries.
