"Mama", moaned little Lily Potter.
"Lily sweetie, what's wrong?" asked Ginny.
"My body hurts", replied Lily.
"Breathe deeply", said Ginny. She demonstrated it and stroked Lily's shaved head. All of her fiery red hair was gone because of the nasty chemo.
"No mama", said Lily while shaking her head. "I want to go away to the angels",
"No Lily", panicked Ginny. "You don't mean it. You are going to beat cancer and live-
"Mama I love you", whispered Lily. She touched Ginny's chest and smiled. "I will always be there for you mama",
Ginny burst into tears and held Lily's hand which was touching her chest. Her only daughter was going to die after a fifteen year battle with leukaemia. Lily had leukaemia since the age of two. She was now seventeen and had been fighting with leukaemia which had relapsed.
"Lily baby I love you", sniffled Ginny and held her close. "I know you will be safe up there with Uncle Fred, granny Lily and grandpa James, Tonks and Lupin and many other people will be waiting for you…
"I know mama", smiled Lily. She stroked her mother's pale but beautiful face. "I am very a lucky girl to have a big loving family",
"Do you want me to call the nurse?" asked Ginny.
"No mama I can endure this pain", said Lily. "I want to die peacefully not with medicine",
Ginny wiped away her tears and asked Lily: "You know that daddy, mummy, Auntie Hermione, Uncle Ron, Grandma Molly, Rosie, Luna and lots of other people loves you, and you know that right?"
Lily nodded and smiled brightly: "Of course, I know that mama. Mama I'm sad that I won't see you or daddy for a while but I'm ready",
"Are you sure?" asked Ginny, who was sniffling. Lily nodded. Ginny picked up her wand and sent a patronus to everyone in the family. She knew that Lily would want everyone beside her before she died.
"Mama thank you", said Lily quietly.
"Honey I don't understand", replied Ginny.
"Thank you for everything" said Lily. "When I was sick you were there to comfort me and you gave up your job as a reporter to look after me. I know that I have never shown it but I am really grateful mama. When I was eleven I wanted to go to Hogwarts but I couldn't because my bone marrow failed and I needed a transplant. I never went to school and mama you were always there to care for me and read me the Tales of Beedle the Bard",
This time Ginny couldn't help but sob into Lily. Lily held her mama close and stroked her ginger hair which she had inherited.
"Don't worry mama", said Lily softly. "I will always look over you and daddy and James and Albus and everyone else",
By the time, Bill Weasley and Fleur and their children arrived Lily was already up there with the angels. Ginny was devastated but she was proud of her youngest child who has chosen her own time to die. She knew that Lily loved her and that was the most important part.
