Annabeth stretched, finally looking up from her messy desk covered in blueprints and architectural sketches. When she lifted her arms above her head, her shoulders and back cracked loudly, making her sigh and groan in relief. Standing, she rolled her neck, cracking the stiff joints before she made her way to the little bedroom in the back of the apartment.

She stopped in the doorway, staring down at her sleeping husband. His chest was rising and falling gently with every deep breath. His blue t-shirt was bunched up to expose parts of his abdomen where the sheet didn't cover his tanned skin.

Annabeth padded over the wood floors, careful not to wake her seaweedbrain. She ghosted her hands along some of his scars. The little white stripes almost seemed to glow in the moonlight, like the Mist when it pools.

Percy stirred at her touch, but ultimately stayed asleep. Annabeth felt bad. He'd been working so hard to continue his degree in marine biology, but at the same time, he was working full-time at Gwen's restaurant in New Rome in order to let Annabeth work on opening her firm. On top of that, she knew he'd been trying to stay awake until she finished so they could have some time together, but it hadn't worked.

Annabeth smiled sadly as she carded her fingers through his hair. "You really are a seaweedbrain, working yourself so hard. You have to let me pick up some of the slack," she whispered as she pressed her lips to his forehead.

"I love you, Percy," she added softly, kissing her corner of his mouth before climbing into bed herself. She snuggled under the covers, pressing against him before finally drifting off.
