Ever since the school year had ended, Sirius had camped out at the Potter's house, never leaving the room they had given him. He had not uttered more than two words to anyone since the fight with Remus. In fact, he had gotten so bad that he barely got up for breakfast. Whenever James caught a glimpse of him, all he could see was a hollow shell of his best friend. They had had Lily, Peter and Marlene over to try and cheer him up but they had just made it worse.
Sitting on the edge of his bed, Sirius stared at the photo on his bedside cabinet. It had been taken the start of sixth year, just under a year ago. It was of him and Remus curled up near the fireplace, Remus reading and Sirius sleeping. All he wished was to go back to the moment that had changed everything.
-Earlier that year-
"Come on Pads. You're joking right?" James asked, walking out of Slughorn's classroom with Sirius.
"No. He was passing me notes all the way through." Sirius grimaced."Some of them were really graphic though." In the potions lesson, he had been paired with one of the slimiest people in Hogwarts, with the exception of Snape. Robert Gradinson was a year older than Sirius and had been trying to get with him since he had seen Sirius in Potions class. It started off with small compliments which Sirius passed as being friendly. Until the day he had started to get handsy. It had gotten to the point where Sirius would recieve crude and horrible notes that made him, and anyone who read them, uncomfortable.
"He does realise you are with Remus, right? The sassiest Gryffindor ever?" Sirius nodded, sighing. All of a sudden he was pulled into a broom closet and someones lips were on his. He tried to resist them and push them off but they just forced him up against the shelves. Then there was a bright light and an audible gasp. With Robert being distracted, Sirius managed to push him off, just in time to recieeve a slap to the face. To his horror, he realised the person who saved him was none other than his boyfriend, and he did not look pleased.
"Remus...I can explain..." Remus stormed away, tears threatening to fall.Sirius chased after him, calling his name. His boyfriend didn't respond until they had reached the common room where people scurried out after seeing Remus' face.
"Please Re, let me explain..."
"Explain what, Sirius? The fact that I found you making out with Robert Gradinson?" Remus yelled, turning around to see Sirius. Being the night before the full moon, he had more anger than he would have.
"I did not make out with him! He's been harrassing me in class and forced himself on me." Sirius pleaded.
"Like I'm going to believe that." Remus scoffed. "I never expected you to be the cause of us breaking up. Go live with your brother. I never want to see you again."
Sirius layed down on the bed crying softly. He missed Remus so much, even though he was still mad at him. There was a quiet knck on the door and it opened slowly. Sirius threw his arm over his face and sighed. "James, I am really not in the mood."
"It's not James." He knew that voice, he could tell who it was from a mile away.
"Why are you here Re?" He asked, turning onto his side so his back was facing Remus.
"James told me that you had not been eating or talking. He thought I could help."
"What? By making me feel even worse? That's a great idea."
"Come on Pads." Remus sighed. "I can't talk to you if you won't even look at me." Sirius did not move an inch.
"Fine. I'll move then." Remus slowly made his way to the other end of the bed and sat on it. He sat there in silence, unsure of how to start the conversation.
"I thought you never wanted to see me again."
"I was mad Pads. Can you blame me? I'd just walked in on my boyfriend kissing someone else. What was I meant to do?"
"I don't know maybe hear me out?" Remus dropped his head to the wall. Sirius was right, he should have heard him out before jumping to conclusions.
"I missed you." It was barely audible but it was there. The three words Sirius least expected to come out of Remus' mouth. He looked up at him and smiled for the first time in months.
"I missed you too."
