She had always had a talent for music.
In the past she would constantly play music for people's enjoyment, mostly for Marianne's enjoyment than anyone else, really.
When she was still alive they would often retire to her music room to play together, Marianne usually chose to play the piano while she played the harp.
It seemed that her talent hadn't rusted over the seven years that she chose to exile herself after Marieanne's death.
She was still able to play the large, golden harp that attracted people, even though most of the time it was either Cecil or Lelouch.
Her golden eyes silently glanced at her emperor sitting on the throne, leaning against the palm of his hand. She ran her fingers across the harps strings and wondered if her music gave him some peace of mind; because she knew that she had being doing the exact opposite.
She had tainted him from the very beginning, giving him the "devil's power", even though she was sure that he would say that was a lie, but still she couldn't help but wonder what would happened to him if he had never met her.
While she did share his bed, mostly as a lover these days ever since he announced her as his empress, she wondered if that action alone brought him any peace or if it had been just sex to him, so he could feel the comfort of a woman.
If it was, however, it was fine by her, because while she cared for him greatly, she wasn't quite sure she was in love him. Love had always been a complex emotion to her and the only person who she thought she could love, even if was a mother/daughter relationship, and feel genuine love back from had betrayed her in the worst possible way.
Besides, even if she was in love him, she knew quite well she wouldn't get her happy ever after, whether the Zero Requiem was successful or not. She knew quite well that he was planning to die; such was the fate of humans.
Perhaps that was the reason why she closed off her heart, giving her the "ice queen" persona that Lelouch once said she had, she didn't want to see someone that she truly loved die, leaving her behind.
"Your music seems sadder tonight," Lelouch finally uttered, standing up as C.C. paused in her movements, noting that he was about to retire to their room.
"I didn't notice."
