It was hard to know what day it was. They all blurred together down there in the darkness. The black was so cold. I shivered and tried to warm myself by rubbing my arms. The small comfort was better than nothing.
But isn't that what I had? Nothing? I was in Tartarus. What could be worse?
Being in Tarsus alone. I had to remind myself.
I wasn't alone. I had her. I had Annabeth. We were in this together and I was never going to let her go. Even if it meant falling into Tartarus itself.
Her head lade in my lap as I leaned against a dead tree behind me keeping watch. She looked peaceful through the grime and blood on her face and clothes. Sleep was the only time she could escape from the nightmare happening around her. She stirred slightly and curled around herself for warmth.
I gently ran my fingers through her blond hair. A faint smile grew on her relaxed face. When her eyes opened I couldn't help but smile back.
"Percy?" She asked.
"Hmm?"
"Do you know what day it is?"
I shrugged and shook my head slightly. Where was she going with this?
"It's a special day." Her eyes taunted me; eyebrows lifting the way they do when she knows something I don't know.
She sat froward and scooted next to me wrapping her arms around my neck. Her face inches from mine. "Happy birthday, Seaweed brain."
Then she kissed me and I was happier than I had been in weeks.
A/N: It's Percy's birthday. This only comes once a year of course I had to write something even if it was short. Happy BIRTHDAY PERCY! Check out my chapter story Never Left Alone
