Chapter 1: England's Lament

Sitting sipping Earl Grey
Wanting this precious peace to stay
Looking out into the sea
Oh how great I used to be

I used to stand so proud and tall
Picking you up when you fall
You stood and watched my power fade
I just wish that you had stayed

By my side you used to stand
We would fight hand in hand
But you began to drift away
With my feelings you would play

You won the war in the end
Not on me you would depend
You are free now, do what you may
But I'll love you anyway

Now their's no one who can save you
Now there's no one for you to cling to
You're now alone with no protection
Now you learn to take rejection

Let's try to make amends
Maybe we could still be friends
Patch up the wounds that still remain
Go on like nothing left a stain

Every time I see your face
I feel my mind begin to race
Through all the memories that haunt me
All the things I wish to not see

Even though there's still a tear
Though there's pain that we both bear
You are strong and great, you see?
Greater than I could ever be

So just remember where I stand
Know that I could use a hand
Even though It's kind of late
Know that you're what made me great
