Hewwo, are you still crying over the last episode of Gravity Falls from three years ago? ME TOO! Now here's a soppy story with Stan and Dipper bonding. ENJOY!
It was all over, the war, it ended. Everyone was fine. They still had bumps, bruises, scratches, broken, sprained body parts, but they all seemed fine. They were all pretty happy that the war ended and Bill was now a statue for intercity. Even getting Stan's memory back was pretty exciting and a little scary at the same time.
Everyone was celebrating at the Shack. They were celebrating the people who saved their lives from the evil Bill Cipher. Stan was being hugged by almost everyone because they were so glad that his memories came back and that he was the hero of the town. Except one.
The one person who wasn't celebrating with them for saving everyone. He was sitting right on the porch steps sitting there gloomy looking. Stan left the crowd walking right over to him to have a conversation.
"Hey, kiddo, why aren't you celebrating with us, you too saved everyone," he said as he sat down next to Dipper. Dipper looked up at Stan wiping his eyes. "Oh, hey Grunkle Stan," he responded with quite an unusual voice. Dipper wiped his eyes again with his forearm. Stan looked at him a little concern. He was pretty sure the kid was crying but he was trying to hide it. He heard the kid sniffle his nose a little as well. He was sure he was crying. "Dipper, are you okay, you're acting-strange, stranger than usual."
Dipper looked up at Stan trying to pretend he was fine. The boy nodded with a little hum in his voice. Dipper glared over at everyone happy and all bruised, with scratches, and other things that needed medical attention.
"How can they be so happy even though they all have bruises and broken ribs, or something, like that, I don't understand."
"Dipper!" Stan snapped his fingers in front of Dipper grabbing him out of his thoughts. Dipper twitched as he stared right back over at Stan's blue eyes. "You alright kid, you look upset 'bout somethin', you okay?" Stan asked putting a hand on Dipper's shoulder. "Mm-hm! I-I'm fine," Dipper replied rubbing his eyes again.
Was that a tear Stan just saw?
Stan was now very positive that the kid was crying all right. He's never seen him cry before. He's used to seeing Mabel cry, and he knew how to fix those, by telling a joke of course, but he wasn't so sure how to fix Dipper's sadness. He wants to tell a joke to the kid, but he's not so sure how well the boy is gonna get it. Dipper isn't all for one for jokes, but maybe Stan should try.
"Hey, ya wanna hear a joke?" Stan asked with a silly grin on his face, waiting for Dipper to respond. "Sure? I guess."
Stan had to think for a moment to think of a good joke to tell the kid.
"Alright, here's a good one; why do seagulls fly over the sea?"
"Um, because their seagulls?"
"No," Stan chuckled, "because if they flew over the bay, they'd be called baygulls," Stan started to laugh at his own joke. Dipper started to laugh as well, only to bring him to tears.
Stan felt arms wrap around him as he looked down seeing Dipper wailing loud sobs. Everyone else stopped doing whatever they were doing and could hear Dipper sobbing. They all looked directly at Stan and Dipper.
"Dude, is he okay?"
Oh no, is Dipper okay"
"Stanley, what's wrong with Dipper?"
The questions flooded over Stan as he couldn't answer one of them for they were coming way too quick and it stressed the man out.
"Enough with the questions!" Stan shouted. Everyone stood shocked and silent. Stan picked Dipper up into his arms as he carried him to the back of the building hoping no one could hear them. Stan put Dipper back down as he sat in the grass with him. "I-I'm sorry, I didn't mean to cause a scene, I j-"
Stan embraced Dipper into a hug starting to cradle him, cooing soft words to the boy. Stan wasn't sure if he was doing the right thing, but he hoped it helped Dipper.
"It's okay, I'm not mad at you."
Dipper heard the soft words as he continued again to cry.
-Later-
It felt like an hour. Dipper had red puffy eyes as he hiccupped and sniffled. The two hadn't let go of the hug since then, and Dipper didn't want to let go. Neither did Stan, he felt like it was his job to keep him with comfort and hugs, and to protect him.
