Okay. This story is set in Eight's pov the whole time. I'm doing this thing where I challenge myself not to add another person's pov. Also I wrote this while watching Fringe. Awesome show... Anyway, I really hope this succeeds. Enjoy...

I watched as my best friend, Mal and a new kid I think is named William move through the crowd. They were at the park. There was a street fair going on there. And I was watching my friend and her's through and crack in the bushes that I was hiding in.

I was seventeen years old. One year older than Maru herself.

And the boy that she's with just transferred to our school. I think that he was genius, or something. Not that I care. But he'd better stay away from her. I had her first, and I wasn't about to let some idiot (or genius,or whatever he is) swoop in and take her from me. Again, not that afraid, but still. I've got to be on the watch for anything suspicious.

"Liam," Mal said. "That was so fun! What next?"

The one called 'Liam' was smiling. "Well, what do you want to do next? I'm up for anything."

"Um, wanna get some cottoncandy?"

"Sure. I'll buy."

"Nah, it's okay. I got money."

"No. I insist. When I say, 'I'll buy', I mean I'll buy. Don't you worry your pretty little brain."

"Okay, thanks."

"No problem."

I watched as he pulled a five out of his pocket, and handed it to the vendor. It was exchanged for a long, white stick that had fluffy tuffs sticking out everywhere.

William held the food, while Mal pulled small pieces off.

"This is going to be the best street fair ever," I heard her say.

I was instantly jealous.
